With arafat and xlinton sharing the honor, I don't blame you, however, following the links and struggling to understand, I think the thread started issued a desperate, and righteous, plea for help. What can we do to help? Being aware is a big part, and perhaps the onliest real part we can play. The drama will be played out.

United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan today voiced his serious concern over the withdrawal of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi's personal security

The UN is now on the case - problem solved. Isn't FR great?

Ang Sung Suu Kyi is the democratically-elected leader of Myanmar, formerly Burma. Suu Kyi was awarded the Nobel Peace prize for her tireless and selfless efforts to save her country form military dictatorship. Suu Kyi is one of the few winners of the Peace Prize who actually deserve ithas been under house/close arrest off and on since she won the last election, which the Junta invalidated.

This has been an on-going issues for the last few years. As I recall this woman was leading Myanmar toward the light when they clamped down tight, not letting her leave her house. There is not much US coverage of the situation but it's not totally unknown either.
