I've been stopped for "trace elements" so I would suspect that any amount that would bring down a plane would be more then enough to alert the dogs no matter where you stuck it.

I was escorting some classified material one time way back when and was armed. I rode the baggage cart from aircraft to aircraft and climbed aboard. I tried to surrender my pistol to the crew, as soon as I reached in and pulled it to give it to them, they had their hands up before I could explain what was going on. The rest of that flight I had coffee, tea, and food constantly spilled on me. They had no sense of humor.

If you want to prevent bombs from getting on planes you use bomb sniffing dogs which is exactly what they do use.We just watched a news video from LAX, showing long lines of people jumping through the TSA hoops. There were no dogs anywhere around. But you can bet, I'll be looking for them to check each and everyone of the millions of passegers boarding.
I would suggest they start training more dogs. Lots more dogs.
Man, I am glad I no longer fly commercial.
Cheers!

Also the dogs are a lot smarter and easier to train than most of the checkers I've seen.

If you do not believe me please feel free to stick some explosives of your choice in the orifice of your choice and try to board a plane.
I am sure you will have some real amusing stories to tell.
Enjoy!

No they don't and they never forget.
I needed to make a urgent trip and tried to buy a one way ticket at the counter with only a carry on.
I set off alarms from New York to LA. Needless to say I did not make that flight and since then I always get pulled aside for special pat downs and my luggage is always hand checked.
It is half annoying and half amusing. But I am glad to see them doing their job.

Who is Pat Downs?
( and on a more serious note, the Bad Guys are ALREady using body-caveties for explosive.... those Russian planes that went down a couple months ago were done by women who had "loaded" themselves. )
