Over the past couple of months, my DUmmie FUnnies PING List has grown very rapidly until it now numbers 252 Freepers. Okay, so how big is your Ping List? Maybe I'm suffering from Ping List Envy but I have to know how big the other Ping Lists are.
I have 110...but I'm new...
You know, I do not have a ping list, how do you make one?
You just made one...for every response you get from another person, that is considered a "ping".
My "Typso Threw the Tulips" ping list has six names, but I'm proud of it anyway!
No, that's not what a pinglist is. A pinglist is where you post articles/thread of a certain topic. People ask to be on your pinglist, and they get a notification (ping) when you post a thread of that topic. The number of people on your pinglist is the same as the number of FReeper names that you insert into the To: field when you're posting.
You're thinking of "post count", which is something completely different.
As for which pinglist is the largest, there are some pretty big ones, including the pro-military/Iraq/Afghanistan one, the "hold muh beer" one, and the Bush ones.
The bayourod ping list has thousands and thousands of members, it seems. Just let me post on an immigration thread and watch them swarm out from under their rocks like cockroaches.
;^)
Thank you for explaining what the "ping list" is, how does one accumulate names for a ping list?
I have a funny Swedish story. A few years ago I used to frequent a certain beachside bar here in Florida. Anyway the featured singer there was a chubby, unhip looking Swedish (ok, maybe he was Norwegian but how could I tell) guy. Whenever he started singing he had an incredibly funky voice that did not match his appearance at all. However, peering into the darkness I noticed a hip looking black guy with his rings on all his fingers actually singing the songs. The Swedish (maybe Norwegian) guy was merely lip synching. I never quite figured out that setup. Why even have the Swedish guy on the stage? Also it did look pretty comical to have a guy who looked at best like a Polka type singing with an ultra-funky voice. Was this a tryout for some sort of new comedy act? I never found out but it was pretty strange.
By asking. Look at my sig line.
I haven't even figured out what an Arminian is yet. Or do you mean "Armenian."
Do you know if Bill Maher's girlfriend (now suing him for palimony), Coco Johnsen, is on your Swedish Ping List? Johnsen is a Swedish name, isn't it?
It's not the size of the ping list, it's how you use it.
Well, if you make it clear that you have a pinglist, then when you post a thread pertaining to it, people can ask to be on your ping list if they find it interesting. And you should probably say in your comments something like "send me a private message to subscribe to this pinglist". You can look at PJ-Comix's DUmmies threads to see examples.
There was this one troll though, I guess about a year ago, who basically just put people onto his ping list without their permission, and pinged them to threads with articles about US casualities. He lasted about maybe a month before getting banned. Interesting, this guy, or someone with the same MO, made a reappearance this year under the screenname SGTNYC (banned also).
But I digress. Basically, I think it's a no-no to just add someone to a pinglist without them asking to be on it.
I guess what I am asking is where do you keep the names on your ping list, so they are easily pinged.
My ping list isn't all that long, but it makes up for it in width. : )
Oh, sorry, I wasn't sure what you were asking.
I don't think there's an official way of doing it. You could just save the names to a text file (with commas or semicolons to separate them) and copy and paste them.
