Speaking of beer, brewers yeast and garlic are recommended to keep fleas, mosquitos, knats, etc. away from dogs and cats (no garlic for cats though, something to do with their blood). I wonder how it works on people? Maybe all that beer you drink, C.G., is what's keeping the mosquitos away from you.
