Kerry's latest screeeech is: W is stubborn and refuses to admit his mistakes in Iraq. He let Iraq distract him from al queda. Things are getting worse every day for our troops. Wrong war, wrong time. All bad, no good. Iraq has given the terrorist a recruiting boost. ...You know the tune.
That is what Bush and Cheney have to refute. Kerry wants to lull Americans back into a 9/10 mindset, get rid of all those awful pictures on TV. What does he think the terrorist would be doing if we hadn't gone into Iraq? Watching American Idol from their caves?
Bush/Cheney have to remind Americans that the terrorists WANT us to become disillusioned with the fight. Their tactics are aimed at our morale (thru the media) as much as at our troops. They want to hit us again at home. We do not have the luxury of going back to sleep. This burden falls on us to protect the future of our children and our country. We didn't choose it, but there's no escaping it. We cannot let political calculations undermine our determination to defeat these evil enemies who hate us for the way we live. Our only choice is to pursue them while working to create a cradle of freedom in the world where they had flourished.
I suggest both Bush and Cheney go back and review every major speech at the Republican Convention...and then throw in a few Tony Blair classics for good measure. It's all there...and America responded to it just one month ago.
PS:
Yes, I'm saying Bush did a lousy job refuting Kerry's despicable tactics at that debate.
Onward.
PSS:
I should also have added to my rant that Kerry always chastises Bush for any setbacks in Iraq...like beheadings, car bombs, etc. He NEVER, ever says a word about the barbarians who do such things. He IS a spitball.
~~rant over~~~
Agreed. Kerry is doing the same thing in 2004 as he did in 1971 - attempting to destroy the morale of our troops. It worked in 1971, as evidenced by the testimony of POWs who said his VVAW speeches were used by the North Vietnamese to persuade them all was lost.
