Kitty Caption LXII – Back to School – (Humor/Meow Alerts)
9 August 2004 | PetroniDE

Posted on 08/09/2004 3:47:32 AM PDT by PetroniDE

The day sometimes known as “Second Mother’s Day” (a.k.a First Day of School) is fast approaching. The state of Texas had sales tax free weekend. Clothing, back to school supplies, and other items under $100.00 were purchased without the 8-1/4% state sales tax. Tuesday, 10 August (tomorrow) is the first day of prison oops school, so time to get the cats oops kids ready.

I lost my "Purty girl" to cancer and just grieved and grieved..I happened on this thread and it helped even though I didn't tell for a long time. Was not ever going to get hurt like that again...I always feel that way and time passes ...and a kitty comes into my life again..

The latest kitty, Silky Socks, was literally starving , had worms and earmites, pathetic,...my daughter put food out...and after weeks we finally got her in and to the vet....She isn't my computer buddy like Purty but she is funny...a damaged larynx makes her purr LOUD and she does purr a lot...She literally rolls over when you sweet talk her, she plays endlessly now...She has a big case of the cutes even though I can't get her into my lap....

My cats have all had different personalities and I manage to fall for all of them...I still miss my kitty who died, she was very much my shadow, very special...but I have room for another in my affection.

She's CUTE! Poor little scrawny thing! I'm so glad she and her future offspring have found a good home. What a sweet little face she has.

Have fun naming all those kitties.

I know exactly what you mean. My beautiful P Bear passed last year at 19 years old, and I'd had her for most of her life (she moved in with me when she was two, and formally adopted me when she was three.) The last three years of her life she didn't leave my bedroom, and slept on my pillow above my head every night. My other three kitties moved right in to fill the empty spot, but I still miss her.

I know what you mean - I'm still heartbroken over losing my Stimp. But I know myself too well to say I won't get another - I always do! I'd have 100 if I could afford it - they're wonderful little beasts.

Keep working on Silky Socks. Most of mine were strays and very standoffish. Now they can't get enouh of daddy's lap!

Oh my gosh - that pic is almost the spitting image of my Lisa Marie!

Really? Your Lisa Marie must be a beautiful girl!

P Bear had such vivid blue eyes they were almost purple at times. She was owned by my neighbor, who kept her outside at all times and didn't give her any affection at all because the whole family was allergic. Small wonder she decided to move in with me! She was friends with a stray I had adopted, Magic Bear, and he convinced her she'd get a better deal living with me. Isn't that how it always works?

That's a nice picture of your cat. My roommate's two cats, Daisy and Zeppelin, have adopted me. Daisy, "the green-eyed monster," or just "plain" Crazy Daisy is a tabbie who has white socks on her rear legs. She can open the swing door to the kitchen, and since my room is in the basement, and she is not allowed in there, she will meow at the door until I come up. Zeppelin, a male Himalayan, is the "dumber" of the two, though he can open the door too. He is a "lap" cat, unlike Daisy, and likes to look out the window in our living room. They get along, though like most cats, they like to chase each other around the house. When I'm down in the basement and they chase each other, it sounds like a herd of wildebeast! ;-)

The sleeping kitty reminds me of my cat and his belly (I think his is bigger). My cat doesn't usually sleep on his back, but he likes to lay that way and then looks to see if anyone is watching. He likes people to rub his belly. Sometimes it is a game and he'll bite if his belly is rubbed.

The cloned kitten looking at itself in a mirror is cute too. One time I had a cheap full lenth mirror leaned against a wall at my mom's. Her cat went around that mirror several times looking for the kitty looking back at her.

If any of the cat lovers here are also prayer warriors, would you please pray for good homes for the stray and her kittens that showed up at our house? The mama showed up about 2 months ago and had 5 kittens under our house. I was able to give away 2 but have not been able to find a home for the mama or the other 3. We don't have the room (or time) at our place.

Thank you.

My Lucy was very stand-offish for a long time after we adopted her. Then I broke my ankle. For the first week or so while I had to keep my leg elevated, I pretty much camped on the couch in our sun room. That was when Lucy became "my" cat. She laid on my lap, next me, whatever. And purred and purred and purred. I think she was helping me get better.

Ever since then, she is my companion cat.

I hope it doesn't take a broken bone for that to happen for you....

A cute game to play with kittens is to get some of those bubble makers, and blow bubbles towards them.

This does not work well with adult cats. Mine run away from the bubbles.

Lisa Marie is a heartbreaker! She was a stray kitten living under the building where I work. For a month and a half, I spent lunch hour with a can of tuna, slowly coaxing her and her brother to me so I could catch them. It finally happened, now Lisa Marie lives with me and Buford (her brother) lives with my sister. She's a little doll!

I think strays make the best kitties! I fed Magic Bear for a solid year before he would let me touch him, and he was skittish for several years after that. He also passed at age 19, a year before his "girlfriend" P Bear. I only have one pic of him; I'll see if I can scan it and post it on next week's thread. He was a gorgeous tuxedo cat with whiskers that went on forever.

My late, great Stimp was a tuxedo with long whiskers - I used to call her "the walrus in a tuxedo"!

Strays make great pets - I truly believe they are grateful for the roof over their heads. I know none of mine act like they want to go outside - no food (or love) out there.

LOL!My, my ..I do hope not!...I may have to break my habit of watching TV by my computer and spend time on the sofa more, though!....She has made the transition from under a table with a long cloth covering it, hiding in the living room... to a bench in front of a dining room window, to the middle of the dining room floor to watch all the action, to the den sofa and another bedroom but she just comes by and looks around in this computer room without settling on the bed or my lap...

This has all taken time..She was one very frightened kitty...She is so funny with her play and I do enjoy watching and talking to her...Her larynx injury concerned us all but she seems to handle it well enough...I have never seen a kitty more needy....and so grateful.
