I only drop in to check for updates on pending homeschool legislation, etc., and I rarely post. However, I found your post #10 quite curious.

I have three sons, ages 8, 6, and 3, and they would keep me busy even if I weren't homeschooling. The 8-year-old will start working on the "fifth grade level" this fall, even though based on his age he would've only been starting third grade if he were in school.

It doesn't take much time to keep ahead. Usually we only do "homeschool work" a couple hours per day. The rest of the time they are free to explore other interests more fully. And, to be perfectly honest, the "work" I give them seems to hold them back sometimes. They seem to learn much more on their own.

Even those who find their 'bliss' need a break every now and then. Homeschooling is a lifestyle but home educators don't live and breath for the next lesson with no avenue for recreation, soul replenishment, or personal enrichment.

sigh.
