Flat Frodo could also qualify as runner up to "something old" after all of his adventures.

Isn't htur there, too?

Ah yes, she is here so rarely I tend to forget about her (as a hobbit-holer, not as a sister). htur_75 will be there!

Come back, come back. The new hole is open for chit chat, too. :^)

P.S. I'm the one who obeys the Keep Off the Grass sign.

To answer your question left over from the last thread... yes, all times are local. The flight from Austin to LA actually takes 3 hours. (sigh)

"Pastor Rebecca"?

Your matron of honor wore "carvings"?

I'm so confused.

Dan

Yes, the matron of honor carried big carvings with her, and so will I. ;~D (It's earrings, silly)

And yes, our pastor's name is Rebecca....

Shhhh.... don't tease their pastor about his name.

j/k - I was at our church's General Assembly Tuesday. A lot of the pastors has spouses and I was so glad I wouldn't have to guess which was the pastor. That would be confusing.

BTW.... I am aware that a lady pastor is a bit unconventional in some circles, and we hope you'll understand. "Pastor Rebecca" is only her first name to protect her privacy on the 'net.... and she was pastor to my grandparents. She eulogized my grandmother and my mom with the real love of someone who knew them well. She spent many mornings at that beach house with my grandma, and for us, she is a tie to those lost who I would have loved to have been there.

The church we attend has a female "pastor." They deliberated quite a while about what to call her when she graduated. They call her Pastora Karla.

She normally goes by her her last name, which is unpronounceable in writing. Good Norwegian Lutheran stock. ;~D

Oh, I only tease. It is entirely your affair, of course. My opinions are, as always, available on request (and sometimes even without one), but it was just a tease.

As you'd expect!!!

I do have to admit that my immediate reaction to "lady pastor" would be something along the lines of "not that there's anything wrong with that".

I've met some wonderful Christian women who might make good pastors. I'm sure a lot of female pastors are quite good. And I know a lot of people at the Hole would really disagree with my opinion that women have a different opinion.

But this is your wedding. If she makes you happy, then absolutely you should have her! And I bet she's a really nice woman.

You must be PC-USA. Why did I think you were PCA?

I was glad to find her again, because she has changed churches and I had to find her through the grapevine. She is the pastor who I know the best, with some history that means something to me, anyway.

No, I'm PCA! I've never sat under a female pastor, and I wouldn't, but I don't have a problem with other people having different convictions.

And none of the women I've met who would make good pastors would be pastors, because they're all PCA, too.
