Savage played some clips of what Bush said about Clinton. More 'compassionate' conservatism i guess. If that is the example we are to follow then I guess we should say good things about all the liberals now. Savage is not over the top kissin' Clinton's behind is over the top. I agree with Savage's assessment. Imagine how kissy kissy nice 'compassionate' conservatism as mandated by Bush will sound at our Republican convention. We might as well just let Democrats speak there.
Word of advice, if you want to survive around here, think before you bloviate.
I know how free-republic works thanks. I've lurked around for a long time. It champions conservative principles and ideals. So do I. And as is so does Savage. I'm not necessarily pro-dem, anti-Bush like you for some reason want to claim but I am staunchly pro-CONSERVATIVE. Aren't you? I see no reason for your threats to me.

And HERE'S another:
"We might as well just let Democrats speak there."
Savage is today (again) proving just what an ignorant PIG he is. He was just now criticizing the Reagan Funeral. He's too freakin' stupid to stop and think before he starts flapping his lips. And neither do his *few* supporters here (many of whom have just signed up).
Well I'm not really into name-calling so I won't stoop to that level. I really don't understand why signing up to post is any cause to be threatened, does not free-republic like "NEWBIES"?
Savage has his own style not for everyone I admit but I don't think his style warms to any liberals for it's still conservative ideals he promotes. My point about Democrats speaking at the convention was just to make a point, if your're going to be too nice 'compassionate' to your opposition they will just run roughshod over you.
I don't know who he was appealing to. He certainly didn't appeal to me.
Careful lest you get labeled pro-dem, anti-bush. I'm surprised how a lot of people tend to tune in to Savage that don't care for him. I guess that would be akin to me tuning in to listen to say Err-America network. But I never did and never will because I already know I don't care for them.
I feel Savage makes very good points about Bush but I like to hear why he's wrong or I'm wrong for agreeing with him rather than to be threatened or called names the way they always do on the more liberal forums. I'm glad you share the same disgust I do about what happened today.
I used to really like savage. Now, I'll never listen to him again.
Are you sure? I said the same thing about Ken Hamblin when he railed against keeping little Elian here. I also said the same thing about Michael Medved when he belittled (and still does) everything Alan Keyes tries to do for this country. But I still listen to them when I can because in the long run I tend to like what they say more than not.
Yes, when Savage trashed Reagan and Thatcher that was it. I'll never listen to him again. He has lost all my respect. Im my book, he's up there with Michael Moore.
Well the problem is Savage never trashed Reagan. He does "trash" liberalism. He merely was down on what he considered "excessive" funeral coverage which is a little different than trashing Reagan the man.
I heard what he said about Thatcher's accent. I thought his take was funny eventho I didn't agree with it because I personally love her accent. But still it wasn't exactly as you're making it sound, a trashing of Thatcher and Reagan and the things they stand for. Are you sure your fuse with Savage wasn't already short to begin with?
That's fine. I just want to keep things in perspective. Aren't we all vying for the same things here? Reagan didn't stand for "funeral tributes", Thatcher didn't stand for the authenticity of accents, and personally I'm not sure the decorum displayed by Bush today was out of decorum or out of Bush's convictions. That's worth perusing over when you look at the overall big conservative picture.
I still don't see where Savage's criticisms have been directed at any of the principles or ideals that Reagan and Thatcher espoused. I think he's still a strong ally in the battle against liberalism. Sorry you now think otherwise.
I think Savage got some bad garlic at lunch.
Oh really? And who is your idea of a good conservative talk show host on radio today?
Whoops not Kathleen Willey but Juanita Broaddrick.
