Mo, if you use one cup of flour, then you use one cup of beer

You didn't say "cup" .. you said "part"

Sorry, I'm still learing this southern lingo :0)

LOL, I wasn't thinking in cups... As soon and I saw the word "beer" I was thinking in cans.

seriesly, equal parts is the same thing as equal amounts. whatever amount you use for one, use the same amt for the other.

Oh my word, I am laughing so hard.

A part is one and another part is equal to the first. So, if you want to make a small batch, you would do one cup of flour and one cup of beer. But, if you need to fry a larger batch, you would do three cups of flour to three cups of beer.

And never forget that even southern women cannot bake good cakes. LOL

Bless your heart, Mo. Hehehe.....suppose you're making up a mess of something that requires more than a cup? Or supposed you have more than 2 ingredients. For example, say you needed shortening, flour and sugar, but you needed twice as much flour as shortening and sugar. Then you would use 1 part shortening, 1 part sugar and 2 parts flour. In other words, just figure out how many parts combine to make a whole. Very simple.

Pay close attention Mo; not many yankees get instructed in the finer points of southern ways....and cooking. If you really want surprise hubby when he comes home....tell him you're gonna make him up a mess of greens and a sweet potato pie to go with them fish (assuming he catches any). Of course, he's had your cooking, but the thought will temporatily throw him off his guard and he will adore you for it. Then he'll get someone to watch the girls and take you out to dinner (are there any restaurants in Philly that serve catfish, greens and sweet potato pie?)
