IS VOTING "FIXED" IN THE 'AMERICAN IDOL CONTEST?'
TOPICS: TV/Movies
KEYWORDS: bandwidthwaster; mindlessvanity; newbie; newbievanity; noobie; worthlessvanity
In veiwing and reviewing the FOX presentation of the "American Idol (Singing/Talent) Contest" it leads many, many of us to wonder if the telephone in votes for the 'best' performer is in some way being miscalculated or votes for specific 'performers' routed to some other than intended. Certain 'performers?' who are definitely far below any standard (if there is one for them) on this show, remain, while others who are far above whatever, established or not, are 'voted off' allegedly by the American public. I suggest someone within FOX network responsible for airing this farce reveiw what is happening which smells of corruption in many ways, i.e., fixed in some way by some entity of the producers of the program! Thank you for the non-highly sensitivity of this posting, as compared to the many much greater news stories of present day!

>>>IS VOTING "FIXED" IN THE 'AMERICAN IDOL CONTEST?'
Is voting fixed in Chicago? Certain counties in Florida?

What? No way the person voted off tonight was by far the worse singer of the bunch and so far all of the vote offs have been right on, the people watching the show are probably dedicated viewers who judge singers overall and probably dont judge them one night at a time, they are voting the consistantly bad performers off while leaving the guys and girls who have off nights or pitchy perfomance to remain. Besides we all know Fantasia is the best.

Wrong. George is the best.

has to do with the demographics of the voters.
teenage girls are the ones who take the time to vote early and often.
they like John Stevens and John Paul Lewis no matter how bad they sound. they think they're "cute."
they hate (yes, I mean "hate") Diana, the pretty sixteen-year old blonde. you can guess why they hate her, and it's not because of her singing. I'll go out on a limb here and say one reason they like Fantasia is because they don't see her as competition (I'm trying to think like a teenage girl here).
(also, they really don't like Camille, who got booted tonight, and they don't care for Jasmine either.)
they're not country fans, therefore Amy (who stole the show two weeks ago singing "Sin Wagon") got the boot last week.
anyways, the voting's not fixed as far as I can tell. (my opinions here are based on my reading of AI internet message boards, by the way.)

We all know that Jenifer has by far the best voice, and seems to have a good soul.
That said the finals last year were a joke, the voting system was so congested that there is no way a valid tally could be taken between two presons.

This article explains the results pretty well.
American Idol Gives Too Much Power To The People
I enjoy watching AI with my 11 year old. It's one of the few things on TV that we can watch together.

I'm having a hard time imagining Fantasia as the winner. She has a way about her that is unattractive. (Plus, she sounds just like Macy Gray, and we already have enough Macy Grays). Latoya is way more appealing. I still think that George might just pull it off, because he is so darn nice and is improving his vocal performances every week.
(This topic is a welcome respite from the news of the butchering of Dr. Rice's testimony...)
