but you guy's have got to develop a little thicker skin.

Putting the movie aside, I would say that a lot Jews, just looking at their history of existence, are very alarmed when such incidents occur. In past experiences it was just a beginning to something more horrible.

Look at wild dogs and chickens and most every species. The minority, the different, the weaker members are generally nipped and pecked at by the stronger.

In Christianity, we think of this animal evilness as "original sin" which is inherent in human beings, and thus every human group carries the capacity for this evil behavior.

I know reform Jews don't believe this, but the behavior on this thread tends to confirm my belief in original sin.

As Jews have been a minority since the Dispora, I expect they have been persecuted just due to being a minority. But my reading (which may be wrong as it was some time ago) indicated that the exaggerated form of this persecution that we learn of in the last centuries did not begin till the Middle Ages.

Yonif, I recognize your name, I pay attention to your posts, and I have a lot of respect for you. However, when it comes to the people of the U.S., at least the majority who are Christians, do you really think you have anything to worry about? We are in the sights of the "religion of peace" just as much as you are.

although several people who called 9NEWS to report the damage said that they blamed Mel Gibson’s movie “The Passion of the Christ” for rekindling anti-Semitism.

By reporting accounts of those who have absolutely no objectively-tenable basis to weld the crime to the movie (even assuming both the callers and perps saw the movie), this *news report* doesn't put the movie aside, does it?
