Ugh, I feel so petty about my problems, I'll vent anyway. Today my supervisor pulled me in and said that after a meeting today, it was quite obvious that they didn't have the resources necessary to do the job. So I have been invited back to work, the contract will be another year, guaranteed...I have to tell them by Thursday afternoon.

And I'm on a rollercoaster of emotions again. I bought a surge protector and a print cartridge, then cried all the way home in my car. Relief??? I don't know. So I'm writing down the pros and cons of staying. My mom had a good point, evn though I don't have benefits or paid vacation or paid holidays, I wouldn't have the same thing if I didn't take the new contract, plus I wouldn't have a paycheck either.

OTOH, I would be a year older, no closer to putting money in a 401K, and potentially having to start over again somewhere else. Ugh. I hate decisions and I hate job interviews. Thanks for listening. :)

UG, speaking from this old ladys view point and from what I've seen of office policy and loyalty over the years, I think you are smart to make your list of pros and cons.

However, if it were me, I would take the 1 year contract, but would continue to look for something permanent with annual leave, regular raises, 401K, health insurance, etc.

Taking the one year contract doesn't mean you have to stay the entire year - unless there is some ironclad clause in that contract. So, if I were in the same spot, I'd take the contract and have my fingers crossed behind my back!

Hmmm..........well, if you hate job interviews, you can now put THAT off for another year.:)

I'm afraid I'm not much help.......my work situation is so entirely different from that of most people I know.........I have no good advice. Just prayers; and those I can offer in abundance.

p.s. And BTW you are not being "petty". Geez, how many times have I dumped my problems on this thread? How many times have I done it today??????

We are all about sharing & caring here (well, along with all that other stuff.....you know, the REAL WORLD and politics and all of that.;^)
