LOS ANGELES -- A group of hungry cats began to eat their 86-year-old owner after she suffered an apparent stroke and couldn't get up for nearly a week, officials said Thursday.
Mae Lowrie, who lives with seven cats, was discovered unconscious and riddled with bite marks Wednesday night at her Panorama City apartment, Fire Department and hospital officials said.
She was listed in fair condition at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center, said hospital spokeswoman Lisa Kort.
"The cats were trying to survive in the conditions that they were in, faced with the outcome they had. They did what they had to do to survive," animal control Officer Ernesto Poblano told KABC-TV. "The cats were all emaciated, very, very emaciated."

Who knows, maybe they were taking turns nibbling her to keep her with them... you know... inducing pain to keep her conscious.
To: SAMWolf
Maybe not even that much....these critters are like vultures! They're ALWAYS hungry. You'd think I never fed these varmints! You can look at 'em and tell that's not true. LOL!!

You could have a point. They did seem to do more damage to the dog.

*giggle* The cashiers and stockers can testify that these criters aren't starved. I'm constantly teased about the amount of food and litter I buy each week. They swear we have lions or tigers, not regular kitties. LOL!

I'm sorry to hear that. I know what it's like to lose your dog and it takes time to get over the grief. You'll always miss him but soon you'll think of him with a smile and less tears.

Sorry to hear about your Yorkie, I know what it's like to lose a dog. I've got one that's getting pretty old and I'm not looking forward to the time when it comes.
