The Hobbit Hole V - Where Many Paths and Errands Meet...
ecurbh

Posted on 12/11/2003 2:07:57 PM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Where Many Paths and Errands Meet...

The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

If you have or can provide either a narrative summary of where they have gone and/or provide post numbers, that would help him!

I can provide a history of how the design was achieved, and some of the off-Hobbit-Hole GIs that received them. WN has info on Tom's platoon-size shipment. We shouldn't post names, but I can at least list the units, and the person's job, of those who got the ones that I sent, including veterans, who have gotten a knife from us as a tribute to their service.

I should check with the engraver, and see if I can get a few photos of the laser engraving being done on this latest batch.

Morning! Happy Monday! Had a super productive weekend. I cooked and cooked and cooked and cooked and cleaned a little, too.

There's a website out there that promotes drinking half your body weight (translate pounds to ounces) in water every day. It don't really make sense to leave the bathroom...

Mornin' all. Is it Entmoot yet? (gots to get Luke to school)

A Heavy Hunter, probably a Tbred-Irish Draft cross. Very good for Irish country and carrying a big guy. He's a lot beefier than my girl, though he's only half a hand taller. She's American Thoroughbred all the way, racing bred but she's not fast - slow and steady is her motto (and I like it that way! my speed demon days are over!) :-D

Dressage braids are different - they use that white tape instead of yarn. Here's a how-to for a hunter braid:

And here's the Arab braid, which is quite different:

Got the neosporin on there now. I had already put the hydrocortisone on, so I just left it overnight.

Just fine! Are your feet any better this morning after the cortisone treatment?

Surprisingly, I'm not sore and my daughter is. Of course, she was riding in a Crosby close-contact saddle, while I had my "Barca-Lounger" - aka a Swiss Courbette general purpose jumping saddle. Deep seat, big knee rolls, lots of comfy padding.

Oh well, it's time to get back to work! See y'all later!

Hmmm ... do people really use Arabs to hunt? Thought they'd be a bit ... hmmm ... refined for such work ...?

There was every kind of horse you can imagine out with the hunt on Saturday, including everything from tiny ponies to Arabs to something that looked like a Dutch Friesian but turned out to be a T'bred/Percheron cross. The Arabs seemed to be doing just fine.

Yes, they are better...still have the one big split, but it's soft and doesn't feel so much like it's ripping each time I take a step. I still have the cashmere socks on with my big soft houseshoes.

It's just one foot that is really bad...the other one is just dry and cracked. Not split. I'm still considering the superglue thing....

I love my knife! It's on display in my china cabinet most the time, beside my flag and with other items of importance!

Good morning. Already got one egg. Gotta stay on top of it (well, probably don't gotta, but I feel inclined to and that's good enough) because I'm afraid the egg'll freeze!

Their water was frozen solid this morning, but they don't care until they wake up...that's when they want a drink. I almost timed it perfectly...was pouring their warm water in when they woke up and realized they didn't have drinkable water and were just beginning to kick up a ruckus.

I was in the kitchen, pouring warm water into the alternate waterer, when they began their ruckus...

(Didn't think that part made sense...)

I had this image of you tippy-toeing out there as not to wake them while you changed the water.

Morning again. Is it Entmoot yet?

Well, I've got no chicken eggs, but last night while cleaning up my fish tank I saw the danios had produced a litter. Lots of little danios all over the tank.
