There was also a British sci fi series which was set in the near future where a detective solved mysteries

City of Death This one is really great

one of my favourite exchanges between Romana and Duggan (the two fisted Mike Hammeresque detective)

Duggan "Do you know what I don't understand?"

Romana "quite probably"

Romana being interrogated in Warrior's Gate

"Are you alone?"

Romana "Not while you're here"

Does anyone frequently read the Continuing Adventures of Doctor Who novels? I read a few and found them not measuring up to the shows.

Hazzardgate - Thanks for the PING!

the US version of Red Dwarf

Get out! I never heard of it, but I don't think I want to, that would be 'Worse than Death'! Lister could only be a Limey. ;-)

(Would anyone like any toast?)

"No Doctor like Tom Baker.
He was the best."

Ah, yes. But I will forever be wandering through time with Sarah Jane Smith.

For Tom Baker, THE Dr.Who ... and fro K9, the real wonder dog ... loved his little scarf. [Pertwee was very good, also.]

I read a few of 'The New Dr. Who Adventures'(circa '92-93), I don't know if that is the same series. They were OK sci-fi novels, but yes, a disappointment compared to the show.

PS - Anyone remember this:

One can improve one's command of the English language by watching that show , and I am not refrerring to the Yorkshire farmer's dialect ; I am referring to the dialog uttered by Tristan , James and Siegfreid . Marvelous show for the whole family . I must have watched every episode at least a dozen and a half times ! I have the DVD box sets now ! Wore out the videos !
