You are correct that a solid sphere will project an inverted image, but the rounding occurs the closer the image gets to the viewer. If you look at the center of the ball and go upward, you will see in inversion of an increasingly downward view. As you go up on the sphere you can see the top edge of her blouse (which is hidden from direct view by the table) with the nipple in question (her right nipple) on the right. Go even further up and you will see a star of light bleeding from the crystal base and then the glare from the table.
I must be getting old because I'm finding the optics more interesting than the loose nipple!

I'm not just stunned at the cleavage in the Millie Jackson album cover.... What is that appearing in the crystal ball?
I'm not sure what is so wrong with #2... the fashion is laughable, but of course it is, its 40 years old...
The Orleans album cover is made unbelievable by the front guy, looking down at something

No, no, no.... those are just great nominees for worst albums ever... in some cases, the ideas are so bad, the covers are actually fitting :).... Except the Satan is Real cover... that's just baaaaaad all over.
Some have to be trying to be funny (Sat. Night Fiedler, etc.) That doesn't count.

The ironic thing is that the cover you posted a
picture of came out some weeks before Sept 11, 2001.
