I see this during car accidents...not at bombs and shootings. No one I know personally ran towards the towers on 9/11(I only know some cops causually). The folks I know who were downtown knew something was wrong and headed the other way. Shrug.
I just don't see it. Everyone I know, bails out when the bombs go off.

Has anyone noticed what appears to be a slow down in news events in the middle east. Since the begining of the new year even Iraq *seems* quiet.

Medical folks run towards the event automatically...this is the real problem and the rational behind the secondary (larger) explosion. I did this myself back in the mid 80's...witnessed a bona fide psychotic at a suburban Philly mall shoot the place up and kill shoppers on 10/30. The gunfire was still echoing at the far end of the mall and I was crawling out of a store into the concourse to aid the 5 victims who dropped right in front of my view.
