Jon Ossoff wins 2028 straw poll at progressive conference

Sen. Jon Ossoff (D-GA) was the top pick of attendees at a progressive convention in Washington, D.C., to be Democrats’ standard-bearer in the 2028 presidential election.

Of the 990 poll respondents at Crooked Con, hosted by Crooked Media, 38.4% of attendees selected Ossoff as their first choice for the 2028 Democratic nominee. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) came in second with 16.6% of the vote, and former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg came in third with almost 14%.

The conference brought together elected officials, journalists, and political strategists for panels, strategy sessions, media appearances. Several floated 2028 contenders appeared at Saturday’s event at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, including Sen. Mark Kelly (D-AZ), Maryland Gov. Wes Moore, and Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro.

Ossoff has denied he plans to seek the Oval Office, saying he has “zero interest in running for president.”

Still, the Georgia senator, who was reelected for a second term in Tuesday’s elections, is seen as a leading contender for the nomination.

Respondents were asked three questions total, including their first and second choice for the Democratic nomination. Of the second-choice picks, Ossoff also led with 22.6%. Buttigieg came in second with 16.4%, and Ocasio-Cortez came in third with 13.5%.

Ossoff’s six-year second term in the Senate does not end until 2032, meaning if elected as president, he would have to resign his seat.

Keisha Lance Bottoms, a Democrat, won the Georgia governorship on Tuesday, further igniting speculation that Ossoff could run, since Lance Bottoms would appoint his replacement if he won the presidency.

His mother is not Jewish, and Ossoff did not formally convert to Judaism until his bar mitzvah.[15][16] He previously held dual Australian citizenship[dubious – discuss] through his mother.[6] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jon_Ossoff#Early_life_and_education

Another skinny, dual-citizen?

This guy didn’t even have a job nor did he live in GA when he was installed during the cheat of 2020 as the next Manchurian Candidate. He was some lame documentary film maker oversees. He has done nothing and is a low IQ, venal robot. But, I guess he’s better than AOC.

He's a good actor. That's all they want.

But I think that right now AOC is the favorite.

I have seen him referred to as “the next Obama,” and Obama himself oozed before the mid-termw:

“There’s only one common-sense choice in this race, and that is Jon Ossoff. And it’s not just because he’s so put-together, it’s not because he looks like a Kennedy, all handsome in those videos.”

Obama probably had to go relieve himself after that.

installed? Do you mean the runoff election where he beat David Perdue, even though Perdue got more votes in the first election? Where Trump told voters not to vote because of the stolen Presidential election? If anyone “installed” Osoff, it was none other than Donald J Trump

Trump never told voters not to vote. What the heck are you talking about?

I’m thinking you are thinking L. Lin Wood and even he was taken out of context (I was there).

And FYI, Perdue was up +6 the wee hours of the morning of November 5th, 2020. And Trump was up +2. I watched the entire thing. The “votes” that kept coming in over the next 5 days flipped that race.

Trump AND Perdue won Georgia. By at least 300k votes.

He’s good looking, well spoken, and has the Obama brand of cool. And he just had a crushing victory.

So of course he’s a frontrunner today, but we are soooooo far away from the primaries and this time around neither party has a candidate with the mantle of inevitability.

To me, I can't take him seriously because he doesn't wear a tie. But like you said, it makes him appear to be cool like Obama so it works.
