This is why I keep saying the current level of deportations is really not doing anything. Yes, you don’t see thousands of people crossing the border like under Biden, but they’re still getting in, and the drugs are still getting in, too. People still willing to do this shows that the fear of deportation is not a deterrent. Visa overstays are still happening, too. I would bet that our net level of deportations, if truly counted, would be close to zero.
