ACLU Demands Starting Thanksgiving With ‘Land Acknowledgements’
Front Page Magazine ^ | 11/27/2025 | Daniel Greenfield

Posted on 11/27/2025 11:12:17 AM PST by DFG

The ACLU used to pretend it supported free speech. Then it abandoned free speech and joined the rat pack of radical leftist groups trying to out-radical each other.

That means commemorating Thanksgiving by, according to the ACLU, beginning with a ‘land acknowledgement’.

“Start by acknowledging the land beneath you. All land in the United States is Indigenous land”

Like St. Matthew Island, Alaska. Which belongs to the ice.

“Challenge the false and harmful Thanksgiving origin story.”

Always the best way to start a family get-together.

“Many foods prepared for Thanksgiving are Indigenous foods: squash, corn, beans, pumpkins, and more. When Native people were violently removed from their land by white settlers, many Indigenous food traditions were lost. The forced displacement of Indigenous peoples was (and still is) a deliberate attempt to sever Indigenous people from their traditional ways of living, including food production and ceremony. However, many Indigenous-led movements are actively working to restore ancestral food practices. Native American people around the country have been reclaiming traditional foods, decolonizing their diets, and relearning how to use food as medicine to keep cultural food practices alive for generations to come.”

I didn’t realize Indians invented pumpkins. Or that eating a food gives you perpetual rights over it. I remember when the ACLU at least pretended to be reality based, but now it has to sing the same woo-woo about the magical wisdom of any people that didn’t invent the wheel.

Actively affirm that anti-racism and decolonization work is the responsibility of everyone not only during Thanksgiving, but always.

Actively affirm that the ACLU and its members are forever barred from your Thanksgiving meal.

““Many foods prepared for Thanksgiving are Indigenous foods...”

This is only a half stupid comment. Of course they were. But this just tells me they have no idea of what happened. The first one was celebrated eating the foods on hand. Did they think the Pilgrims were going to order out for a pizza? Not for 200 years.

My wife is 100% Apache and agrees with you.

The Apache killed the Anasazi and Mogollon to get the land we’re on (Mescalero reservation. Cave paintings all over our ranch and sure as hell ain’t Apache.

She’s also thankful whites showed up before the Chinese, who historically just slaughtered everyone.

Many different ones who conquered and went to war with each other and took over each other's lands.

Acknowledging the decadence and horrors within the Indigneous communities of 4-6+ centuries ago is important to do. Most of the time the ACLU is negligent to addressing the horrors and issues worldwide and how we in America have solved so many problems that so many countries refuse to address.

What I know about the lands in America now is that we have a real estate market, title companies, title insurance policies, and a courts system. If the ACLU has some legit claims to be made against people with titles and liens in our real estate market then bring their cases forward now. We also have statutes of limitations for good reason too which folks like James Comey will be glad to give thanks about in the future.

Empty gestures are meaningless.

If it bothers you so much, give the land back or STFU.

When is the last time the aclu did anything that was not violently left leaning?

When was the last time they did anything but stir shit up?

The left and communists have used the constitution to destroy us. They are doing a fine job of it.

The ACLU is as irrelevant as the SPLC. If they didn’t do stuff like this, like a baby crying for attention, and if conservative outlets quit writing about it, most people would forget they exist.
