The ‘indigenous peoples’ were often fighting and killing each other

Every inch of populated land on this planet was likely taken by force from someone else.

The journals of Lewis and Clark noted several "peaceful" indian tribes. They also noted many "fierce" ones. The Sioux and Blackfoot, among others. Raiding parties, murder, kidnapping, scalping were practiced loooong before any Europeans appeared.

I’m Choctaw and I am SO TIRED of this woke nonsense on Columbus Day and Thanksgiving. Myth, legend, or fact, Thanksgiving celebrates Indians and Pilgrams sharing a feast in friendship and comity. Let’s just celebrate that and give thanks to the Lord. It shouldn’t be all that hard.

I'm all for more national holidays and vacations because I think Americans need more rest days and quality time with loved ones to begin with.

So as a Choctaw, do you think - instead of REPLACING Columbus Day or Thanksgiving - it's better to have a Native American Day of some kind? (That isn't woke-grievance based.)

MLK Day for example, was established by President Reagan for example, which I think pays rightful homage to the Civil Rights movement and the end of segregation. And Juneteenth is worthwhile too...(If it were properly observed as commemoration of the Emancipation Proclamation, instead of as a Marxist BLM battle cry.)

I heard this bullcrap at a couple of non-profit conventions I went to.
What they left out was that multiple Indian tribes stole it from each other.
Or at Lake Superior they don’t mention the French fur traders were there before the Ojibwes.
But of course they say the Ojibwes are the natives!

They’re not “indigenous” peoples, they are first peoples.

They’re ancestors were from Asia and crossed the Bering Strait.

They were here long before the ancestors of Europeans but they weren’t plopped in the Western Hemisphere by the Almighty.

And many of these tribes did horrific things to one another.

This accomplishes exactly zip for natives, but it isn't just virtue signaling either.

The Democrats have deliberately made Thanksgiving into an issue to break up families.

Historically, families have tended to create systems of loyalty not derived from the state.
Over and over again in differing cultures. Family loyalty is part of being human, not part
of this or that particular culture, religion or ideology.

That is what the Democrats are trying to destroy. Their other seemingly irrational
positions often have the same end, not just the Thanksgiving business.

To that end they have adopted the cult tactic of encouraging shunning of apostate family
members. More generally the Democrats adopted a doomsday cult mentality, complete
with explicit prophesies. But instead of God it's Democrats who win the final battle and
straighten everybody out.
