A few months ago, someone left an Amazon review for a Creative Thinking Journal, I created. The review stated that the journal might have been worthwhile if the guided exercises weren’t “specifically about liberal thoughts.”
Huh! I thought. I had no intention of writing a book about creativity for leftists. Many of the creative activities introduced in the guided journal are open-ended and rely on free association, allowing users to add anything they choose without being told what to say or think.
The question nagged at me: Is it even possible to create a book on creativity that isn’t inherently liberal? Isn’t divergent thinking, non-linear thought, reimagining the world, creating new ideas and applications for things — inherently liberal? That doesn’t seem plausible, does it?
Merriam-Webster’s official (and well-liked) online dictionary defines a liberal as “one who is open-minded or not stringent in the maintenance of traditional, or established practices.” Meanwhile, a conservative is defined as “tending or inclined to preserve previously held ideas, conditions, or institutions.”
Those we’d most readily classify as high-achieving “creatives” in modern times — inventors, thinkers, musicians, painters, actors, and writers — are more than often to the left of center when it comes to politics. Take a look at any major political rally’s pop culture “special guests,” and this will become immediately clear. No offense Scott Baio.
However, it’s not just modern variations of such “creatives” that lean left. Just to mention a few, Leonardo da Vinci, Galileo Galilei, Albert Einstein, Isaac Newton, and Marie Curie — a decent five-person collection in terms of humanity — were also deeply interested in trend-bucking worldviews and lifestyles, expressed in their politics and interests. Many progressive thinkers throughout history were at risk of isolation, jail, and even death for defying the norm.

No
The Left marches in lockstep. They toe the Party Line. They must achieve class consciousness and oppose the Oppressor Class. Mass Strike is a viable weapon. If we all stick together, we can save the world.
But, you know, be creative, think for yourself and try to be an individual. [/s]
No.
Next question.
Lefties suck at memes. A lot of lefty comedians are only funny when they aren’t talking politics. Usually self deprecating and talking about how miserable they are. That’s the goods. Laugh at the fat loser.
Leftists are not liberals in the classic, dictionary definition sense. They are brainwashed NPCs that follow orders to protest the dumbest things without thought or reluctance. This article thus begins with a false premise.
Jonathan Haight has done foundational work on how libs and conservatives think differently. From ChatGPT:
Jonathan Haidt’s Moral Foundations Theory proposes that human morality is built upon six innate and evolved psychological foundations that guide moral judgments across cultures. These foundations are Care/Harm, Fairness/Cheating, Loyalty/Betrayal, Authority/Subversion, Sanctity/Degradation, and Liberty/Oppression. Each foundation evolved to solve specific social challenges faced by early humans, such as protecting vulnerable offspring (Care/Harm), detecting free-riders in cooperative groups (Fairness/Cheating), and maintaining group cohesion through loyalty and respect for authority. Haidt describes these foundations as analogous to “taste buds” for morality, explaining that individuals and cultures prioritize them differently, which underlies political and ideological divides. For example, liberals tend to emphasize Care and Fairness more heavily, while conservatives generally value all six foundations more equally, which helps explain why liberals may struggle to understand conservative moral concerns.
From the Life of Brian:
Brian: You are all individuals!
Crowd (in unison): Yes, yes, we are all individuals!
As in their most recent creations, “No Kings” or the “Surround the White House” protest on Wednesday to remove Trump as President?
Libs sure are good at coming up with schemes, ripoffs and lies.
And now let’s repeat The Non-Conformists’ Oath:
I promise to be different.
I promise to be unique.
I promise not to repeat things other people say.
Whet ridiculousness it is to call today’s leftists “liberals”. They are vicious violent totalitarian monsters.
So, socialists ;-)
I posted a complaint about some neighborhood kid shooting deer with a bow and arrow. Some yahoo responded with how he hated that liberals had moved out here and ruined everything. Wifey deleted his response before I had a chance to express myself to his redneck a**. First, it wasn’t deer season. Second, the deer were only being wounded. Ever start your day by seeing a wounded deer with an arrow in her side, wondering what happened? The guy was a complete jerk, implying that anything he disagreed with was liberal bs. Truth is, he was so emotionally butt-hurt by my post I figure it was he, or perhaps his kid who shot the deer, or that he is a closet liberal whose feelings got hurt when someone asked him to behave.
I’m pretty sure modern day conservatives tend to score higher on law and order-type personality metrics than do liberals, who score higher on things like openness to new experiences.
But those of course are just averages, and I’m not sure whether such measures are bias in how they’re designed.
What a great conversation starter!
A leftist is all about creativity, although his vision is impaired, so his creative endeavors are all self-serving and short-sighted - and anxious. There’s always a disturbance about Leftist art, like a broken electric high wire dangling to the ground.
A rightie is all about value. S/he realizes that he must be of value to others, or he will never have any kind of life, and that he must define his values succinctly to himself, to have a basis for a good and productive life. He realizes creativity is something that must enhance value - so he puts his creative skills into his job, his relationships with his family and mate, and his children. He doesn’t honk about being creative like that’s some kind of job in and of itself - he lets his creativity flow out to others, to create value for them and increase his own worth among them.
And that is why rightie art, when it does happen, is usually more proportionally correct, more pleasing to the eye, and more beautiful. There’s beauty in everything a rightie creates, because his values are straight. He’s not confused about his place in the world or worried about his worth to others.
The leftist can create stirring art, but there is always something missing, and confusion about what is “meant” by this particular expression. (It’s really a tell about the Left, you know, that they put so much psychological angst into their art.)
I remember a book called “Drawing on the Right Side of your Brain” that claimed creative functions were right hemisphere functions and that people right brain dominate were more creative artistically.
My observations tell me that the liberal mindset is indeed more likely to produce fine art and music than the conservative. Oddly enough, the liberal mindset does not align well with reality.
Life is peculiar.
