The person who killed Mr. Kirk was the son of a sheriff, in college and had no criminal record as far as can be searched for. Having someone who’s radicalized that goes postal cannot be stopped without going after those who are doing the radicalization. He was never in “the system” to be early released. There was no reason until he committed the crime to deny him his second amendment rights either. Unless you want to go down the road of mental health evaluations before any firearm purchases which gets political fast. Same for red flag laws, could his father who says he got more political lately have gone to a judge and without due process hit him with a red flag order and take his guns?
