A look at Bastinelli Knives’ FBag for Cross-Body Carry of a Handgun and a Knife.
Story and Photos by P Pawela
We first wrote about Bastien Coves and his company Bastinelli Knives back in January 2021. Since then, his popularity as a custom knifemaker has skyrocketed. Coves’s knives have been featured in half a dozen popular action movies, and while that is an intriguing reason to purchase one of his products, I’m more concerned about who uses these knives for real-world purposes. That said, I have confirmation that Bastinelli knives are being used in the intelligence and special operations communities worldwide, which speaks volumes.
If you were to check out Coves’s many YouTube videos, you would find that he is an incredible magician with knives. He makes excellent selling points by demonstrating his knife moves with his many different blades. I’ve often stated in this magazine that I’m not a big fan of empty-hand fighting. I frequently advise doing everything in your power to avoid an out-and-out fistfight, as nothing is ever accomplished in doing so. However, when it comes to deadly-force encounters, I have always stated that for every concealed carry permit holder, the best way to protect yourself is with a knife and gun. Nothing says Old Fart like a true fanny pack.
Would that pack have helped Cifton Clowers? (a real person)

That’s not gay or anything. 😅
A customer of mine has a good waistband carry for those hot summer months. Www.leisurecarry.com
Perfect for shorts. Works very well with my holster.
EDC:
Or equivalent.
FBag is what I’ve visualized for Hikes in the “outback.”
Thanks
All the guns I ccw I carry in open top holsters, owb, strong side.
And all my ccw guns (DA only Ruger 357; DA only Sig P239; DA/SA Sig P226) are double action first shot.
If I ever have to draw I don't want to get confused as to which holster I'm using (shoulder vs ankle vs OWB) or if the gun has a safety or not.. (none of my ccws have external safeties).
And in winter it's under a jacket. Summer is a Jimmy Buffet shirt.
By ‘Jimmy Buffet shirt’ do you mean a patterned short sleeved, square tailed, button up shirt, e.g. a Hawaiian shirt?
That would be me.
My daily attire is usually shorts and a tee shirt.
No way I can hold up my Glock 30 with elastic waistband shorts.
My pack with wallet, phone, keys and Glock does it fine.
I do not even like the phone in my pocket.
With the pack I can get to everything even driving with a seatbelt on.

Yeah, nothing screams out louder that i’m carrying like either one of those. It’s common knowledge that is what they are used for. Not fooling anybody.
Yeah, Jimmy Buffet-ish. But they’re fishing/outdoor shirts. Royal Robbins, actually. No pattern but oversized for comfort/to hide sidearm. Long sleeve in winter; short sleeve for summer.
bkmk
Thanks!
True. But it also screams, "I'm carrying a pistol!"
