LAPD Source: Police Could Not Help Fire Evacuation Because Guarding Biden
Breitbart ^ | January 28, 2025 | Joel B. Pollak

A Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) source told Breitbart News on Tuesday that there were not enough officers available to direct traffic and assist the evacuation from the Palisades Fire because they were guarding President Joe Biden.

Biden was in Los Angeles from January 6 through 8, largely for family reasons, as his first great-grandchild was born. But because LAPD officers had been detailed to help protect him and his family, officers struggled to reach the Pacific Palisades as the Palisades Fire began to burn, and frightened residents became stuck in a traffic on Sunset Boulevard.

“We tried to get over here [the Palisades] in time, but we couldn’t,” the source said. “We were detailed to the president.”

Breitbart News noted at the time that people began evacuating the Pacific Palisades at the same time that emergency vehicles began arriving in large numbers, competing for space on the roadways with people trying to leave the area — and also with people trying to reach their houses, or fetch their children from school, before leaving.

The LAPD should go tell the LA Times about this. No one will believe Breitbart unfortunately.

So how many LAPD officers were detailed to protect Biden?
10? 500? The article doesn’t say.

You’d think a reporter would want to dig a little to get that number.

Not to defend the former President, but it is my understanding that by the time they realized they need to get out of Dodge, the airport had been closed. But if he was not running around LA, a minimal force could have been used to secure where they were staying.

I have read that NYC citizens hate it when a POTUS visits their city. Any POTUS, because the traffic gets snarled and gridlocked for hours............

I agree, but it is not just ‘guarding him’ it is a lot of traffic detail work. They close off many streets including several alternate routes so would be attackers couldn’t be sure which route they would take. And then of course there is the motorcade probably a lot of motorcycles and squad cars driving around. So your guess of 500 may even be a low number.

Same in LA. And they come to LA a lot for fundraising. Traffic already sucks and is worse when POTUS comes. They even delay flights for hours. Remember when Clinton came and Air Force One stayed on the tarmac for an extra couple of hours while he got a $500 hair cut.

The airspace WAS closed for hours, grounding the aerial fire fighting planes and helicopters, during critical windows of opportunity.

I just can’t take how stupid America has become. America is only good as every state works properly within the Republic. We are now a confederation of states within confederation of red and blue. Within red and blue states are the cities and capitals that are idiocracy and third world.

Biden probably is more dangerous than the fires.
