Wrong. Not enough.
It’s past time these jerks were put in their place.
FEMA's mission is too broad for it to be a well-organized and efficiently run federal department. If FEMA is needed, it is needed to be a clearing house for the delivery of goods required by an emergency into the hands of the local government or their designated relief services providers. It should not be the whole delivery chain, but rather the "wholesaler".
Consider the NC devastation. If FEMA were to have a "wholesaler" role, they would have been in charge of delivering water, emergency rations and supplies, and perhaps even trailers into a NC-designated facility for dissemination by the state or its providers. The providers could easily have included the many private helicopter pilots who volunteered to airlift supplies into cut-off areas, perhaps through the state department of transportation.
As constituted, I disagree that FEMA is a necessary agency, especially as a permanent agency.
It was embarrassing….they were almost saying “Everyone and FEMA did a good job”…..while nothing was done and it looks like an atom bomb went off.
The arrogance of these idiots is breathtaking.
I watched that briefing last night and holy cow! I’ve never seen so much b*tch-slapping. ROTFLMAO!! There was some wound-licking after that one.
Most fun I’ve had in a long time.
Ding, ding, ding - we have a thread winnah!

Thanks Brad!
I live where Helene hit.
Mostly what FEMA did here was to fund the counties and cities for picking up debris.
Mine was picked up quite quickly.
Contractors from the eastern US with special equipment pick up the debris. This can include chopped up tree trucks of up to 16 inches in diameter.

[PDF] Federal Emergency Management Agency Budget FY 2025
The FY 2025 Budget includes $33.1B in total gross budget authority; 6,186 positions; and 17,328 full-time equivalents (FTE) for the Federal.
In Florida, tradesmen and the well-to-do typically have generators. In my suburban area, people still have wells from before the county put in water lines. In rural area, wells are nearly universal.
My preparation rule for food is two weeks’ worth, and for water, one weeks’ worth.
Eggs go bad fast. Precook meat and eggs before the storm hits.
“Yes, but you still have the morons and the useless idiots (DEI hires?) in charge of directing the locals (the ones that actually know what they’re doing)....”
When I worked for FEMA about 18 years ago, it was a very good agency, full of ex military and law enforcement people who knew how to get a mission done. Quite a few of them were politically, folks who make most here look like bleeding heart liberals LOL.
People in rural, disaster-prone areas might consider long-range walkie-talkies.
Solar cell chargers are available for laptops and cell phones.
Propane cooking equipment is available.
My local Aldi had to throw away what was left in its produce, cheese and meat aisles.
“FEMA: 22,000 employees and 30 billion annually.”
FEMA doesn’t really have 22,000 employees. They have roughly 5000 regular employees in the entire US, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands etc. the rest are reservists they can call up during emergencies. They only get paid while they are actually working and do not get any benefits. Once the disaster is over, they go home to other jobs etc.
Unfortunately FEMA has never prioritized using local resources. I remember Hurricane Andrew in So. Florida. I was managing a good sized local construction company in Broward County and when they needed trucks and equipment for cleanup it was mostly brought in (Late) from other states as their policy was to deal ONLY with about 5 firms country wide who were deemed to be expert (read well connected with the FEDS) to handle all work. Regardless of available equipment and personnel, they had a monopoly on all work. The only exception was that they would hire dump trucks owned by federally registered minority firms.
It was similar to the present corrupt system we now have in DOD as well. The people on top were in line for lucrative jobs when they left the gmnt.

Yeah, it used to be a decent enough agency. And Trump mentioned in the LA press conf that it was still good under his first administration (even despite Obama’s eight years of negative influence). But... like everything the Obama leftists touch and get next to... it is now FUBAR and has been ‘fundamentally transformed’ into another worthless Big government entity. Time to purge these agencies and turn things over to the states, like it should always have been. The Democrats have made it into another boondoggle waste of taxpayer $$$.
Good. Less U-Hauls needed.
On display two of the most venomous and useless Congresscritters ever: Brad Sherman and Ted Lieu. It’s a wonder President Trump didn’t upchuck at their joint apperance.
I almost couldn’t believe Sherman took that situation to ambush PDJT. Trump was there to HELP. Sherman should’ve been kissing his ass for the sake of his constituents. But noooo...
When he started harping on voter ID, that just tells you how much they depend on cheating to “win” elections. They are terrified that he might tie financial aid to require ID to vote.
“that briefing from beginning to end, it was seriously master class,”
Yes, it was.
