WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump on Tuesday talked up a joint venture investing up to $500 billion for infrastructure tied to artificial intelligence by a new partnership formed by OpenAI, Oracle and SoftBank.

The new entity, Stargate, will start building out data centers and the electricity generation needed for the further development of the fast-evolving AI in Texas, according to the White House. The initial investment is expected to be $100 billion and could reach five times that sum.

“It’s big money and high quality people,” said Trump, adding that it’s “a resounding declaration of confidence in America’s potential” under his new administration.

Joining Trump fresh off his inauguration at the White House were Masayoshi Son of SoftBank, Sam Altman of OpenAI and Larry Ellison of Oracle. All three credited Trump for helping to make the project possible, even though building has already started and the project goes back to 2024.

“This will be the most important project of this era,” said Altman, CEO of OpenAI.

Ambitious project, Huge data center already under construction. 60 miles from me.

I think the news of this group effort broke in the White House yesterday.

“Trump supporter Elon Musk, worth more than $400 billion, was an early investor in OpenAI but has since challenged its move to for-profit status and has started his own AI company, xAI.”

Elon is not happy about this.

Yes. He was early contributor when it was not for profit. Then they changed it to for-profit.

I see why he would not like this.

I am no longer on X. I was on Twitter (& X) for 15 years. About 6-8 months ago I signed up for premium for 2 years. About a month ago, my account was closed.

So I am adjusting. Had 7-8,000 followers for more than 10 years.

Anyone with any sense is too. Sam Altman is a liar and a big tech wokebro who will make AGI woke and more concerned with political correctness than objectivity. And scores of employees have left becauase they say he has not prioritised safety.

Musk on the other hand, has made clear that safety is important and that it should not be anti-white and prioritise truth over woke.

Musk actually cares about humanity and human rights like free speech. Other billionaires who may be involved in project Stargate want plebs to be under their control and think there are too many of us.

Microsoft is supposed to be in for $80B of it, but notably wasn’t featured at the announcement. (Maybe after the backlash from Gates’s report on their dinner?)

I’m beginning to question if I am on another bad boys list.

I have been de platformed 2 times in the past 2 months. I have not changed what type of things I post and have been active on web for 15 years.

First I had my account on X closed (was on Twitter and X for 15 years) and then I made the mistake of trying Mastadon (lefti haven) on their Oklahoma branch. Had not been there a month and one of the leftie freaks called me a troll and had me cut off to only my current followers. At the time it was less than 5 followers. I closed all of the account branches of that nightmare.

It seems like every time I post a news article here, someone changes my post to bloggers and personal.

This article was from KTAB TV in Abilene and was listed as I found it on the web. It did have AP listed with the authors.

I sure don’t want to get taken down here.

I think the Ai folks need to separate their power generation from the regular grid. I can see the cost of electricity going up just to provide energy for these rich guys toys.

That the construction is already under way suggests that it is not a Trump-driven initiative. Biden had moved toward centralizing AI under guv control and Trump, representing the other wing of the uniparty, is furthering that with his own branding IMO.

But this also has the air of all those jobs Ivanka took credit for “creating” by meeting with all kinds of big-company CEOs who would come out committing to so many new hires. In Trump I, those claims went into the Ivanka-is-creating-so-many-jobs! column.

Another evil part of this, of course, is the furtherance of the deadly mRNA tech.

Shame, shame, shame!

I am not sure about all of them. It is hard for me to imagine how they got together on such a project.

Several have been mentioned here with bad reviews.

Yes, that is very bad science.

Wife and I both refused it. No regrets.

So, I don’t think it is fit to treat anything.

I think this project may have changed hands more than once.

Science on this scale is hard to predict.

Head Shake.

I am not really excited about the AI that I have been exposed to.

This group has the best of intentions which, as we all know, are what the road to Hell is paved with.

But hey, at least we will have a stronger economy on the way there.

At the end of the day, AGI is coming whether we like it or not. Every other advanced country in the world is also working on AI so if the US wanted to put the breaks on, everybody else, especially China, would be rushing to fill the gap.

It cannot be stopped. Its just a matter of who gets their first.

Not sure if you’ve interacted with it since ChatGPT 3.5 but things have moved on very rapidly.

I managed to code a platform game in python using just a few prompts using 0-1 Preview, future models are getting exponentially better, and software projects that currently take years with human coders and engineers will take hours or even minutes in the not too distant future.

Most people have no idea how much the world is about to change with this technology.

I know someone in the field. I’m told AIs are now teaching themselves and moving beyond some human control. Also, any rules based profession will end up disappearing.
