As a Gen Xer I have to admit this surprised me. I had some awareness that podcasters and "streamers" (whatever the heck that is) were overtaking traditional media, but the total lack of awareness I have with the names mentioned in the article caught me off guard. I offer up this article not just for Freepers to read and digest, but for FR leadership to consider what they might need to be doing to reach out to new audiences and survive long term. I love the text based format here - irrelevant graphics just dilute and block the provision of relevant data - but perhaps some alternative branches of media presentation is worth considering while keeping this forum for text-lovers like me?

I have never heard of any of these names—and I listen to a a wide variety of (mostly non-political) podcasts.

I'm GenX. I know of these guys but I don't follow gamestreams so they're blanks to me. Now the interesting part of your post -- thanks, btw -- is the sources. Twitch? Sure. I get that. Kick? Yeah, makes sense in context. Rumble? RUMBLE?! Okay, now I'm surprised and in a good way!

Not sure how FR could ever reach that audience the way it is, tho. Streams and drip aren't what FR does. Perhaps the best way to get on the radar is for FR folks to use those platforms themselves and reference back. And I think I just dated myself with that idea! lol

At the beginning of the coverage of the 2024 election, former US Senator Heidi Heitkamp was on NBC (I believe). She was talk about the all but inevitable election of VP Harris.
She talked about the low turnout of white males between 20 and 30 and indicated that Joe Rogan’s interview and subsequent endorsement of President Trump was of no consequence. She was completely out of touch and I doubt she knew much about Rogan and his influence with young white males.
