Four years ago, I changed all of my browsers to have a blank start/home page for similar reasons. I figured I could decide where to go after opening the browser.
I should do the same. But have so many layers of security on top would be a pain to reset a bunch of passwords and other security protocols. Guess I'll suck it up and do it. Sigh. PS idiots at MSFT Edge.

It is simple to set up a web server on your computer, both Windows and Linux - can’t comment on Macs.
It is fairly trivial to set up a simple home page with a few links to search engines and ‘go to’ sites.
It is usually the second thing I do after installation. First I update, then I install the web server.
An advantage to having your own home page in your home is that any phone or computer can use the IP of that based computer for a home page, too.
Every time I open a browser, I see precisely what I want to see. And ONLY what I want to see. Cheers!
