The Philippines rejected America and cozied up to the Chinese Communists. Now they see who they were jumping into bed with.
I lived in the Philippines as a military dependent for several years back in the late Sixties into the Seventies, and I really liked the country and its inhabitants. It saddened me greatly to see the falling out we had.
Hate to see it coming to this.
A lot of our ships in the Med are failing and cannot get back to the USA.
The Chinese are rapidly expanding their Navy and adding lots of brand new ships.
Biden’s handlers (Obama) have a great plan here.
On many levels the China/Philippines clash is quite different from the Russia/Ukraine one. Still, I’m not sure just what the proper American response should be.
But there’s one thing I’m quite sure of. Way, way better that Trump call the shots than Biden or Harris.

What we see from the Ukraine war where inexpensive naval drones reach out and strike targets ~600 miles away, aircraft carriers may be little more than floating coffins.
If we do this, should we not establish another deep water port base in the region?

Finally, the Philippines offer many locations for hiding distributed small land bases and extensive protected waters for US ships. If China moved against Taiwan, even with a blockade, the US could use ship and land based long range missiles in the Philippines to interdict essential trade routes to China.
They took our bases in the Philippines, and now they want our help???!!!??

I just saw the other day a report that says we have absolutely no aircraft carriers operating in the Pacific at the moment. 11 naval support ships have been mothballed because they don’t have enough people to crew them.
This is the problem. The military has right now is they cannot get enough recruits to volunteer to serve. They will have to bring back the draft and military duty for two years to get enough people to operate our military effectively.

With 30% of our total navy in the ME and NO carriers in the Pacific, I’d suggest treading lightly for time being.
China wants to control/own the S. China Sea so it can retake Taiwan and spread its hegemony through the entire area.

With about 17 ships in dry dock due to the lack of manpower good luck with that.
The democrats HATE the military it’s why they try to refuse money to them and you never hear them to ask people to join it.
Wouldn’t it better if we, and every other nation preyed upon by these pieces of excrement just entirely obliterated them from existence? And then repeat the process with anyone else that tries to fill their void.
