An angry Tennessee man, allegedly the HOA president of a neighborhood in Admiral’s Landing, has been caught on video destroying a teenager’s fishing rod and aggressively confronting him and another teen over supposed trespassing on private property.
This outrageous behavior has earned him the label of a male ‘Karen,’ a term used to describe individuals who display entitled and often unreasonable behavior.
The incident was captured and shared on TikTok by an account named FishnShi, which documents fishing adventures throughout Tennessee.

It depends on who owned the land over time. If the land surrounding the lake was privately held, it is a private lake. Each owner buttressing the lake owns not just their lot but to the middle of the lake.
If the land was in the care and custody of the county or state, even if the lots adjacent to it are in private hands the county or state may grant a public easement as a covenant that runs with the land. If the state or county did not reserve that right prior to transfer of title, then none exists; the owner has all rights to the land and the public does not.
This is different from manufactured lakes, stock ponds, water reclamation ponds, well-fed ponds, etc. Those are separately deeded lots with a clear chain of title.
In this instance, there was no common area parcel nor public easement. They trespassed on privately held land.
The HOA guy was a jerk but the kids were also breaking the law.
No one has clean hands here.
I watched the video. The one boy was dressed conservatively and wasn’t cursing or being disrespectful, ( I believe the other boy did curse after the “man” called him curse words), just standing his ground. And if they have been told dozens of times, seriously, no, it doesn’t excuse that mans behavior. Not one bit. All the jack ass had to do was walk up to the boys and calmly say, “ you have been warned several times this is private property and not to come back. The authorities are on their way,,, etc
And with gang members raping and murdering 12 year old girls lately, fishing even trespassing and fishing seems a lot less of an issue!
So if someone tells you to leave a place you are legally entitled to be, the correct action is to just submit? Wow.

Sir, I applaud the fact these two boys were fishing and not out looting or robbing as so many teens seem to do these days.
There was no indication in the video or article that the boys had ever been caught fishing there before, and the HOA guy didn’t appear to know them as he kept asking whom they are and where they live. Also, it sounds like the kids called the police, not the HOA jerk.
Yes. I hope I was clear in the points I was really trying to make: We exist in a country now were every day on the news you hear about teens who rob and loot as simply as chewing bubble gum and, where 12 year old girls are raped and murdered by gang members. Yet this ass went violent because two young teens were fishing! Fishing?!!! That is my point. I wish I owned land near these two kids. I’d give them a lifetime of fishing on my property for free and I’d buy them both new rods and reels.
There are no common area parcels in the appraisal district records. Even privately held HOA lakes would have an access point where all owners can launch watercraft or fish (presuming fishing is allowed). I managed a large master planned community and we had several public ramps, docks, etc.
Since there are no separately deeded lots for common area, it means that the land is in the hands of individuals, not the HOA.
That’s trespassing.
The only area where I know that the public not only has the right to go down to the lake but where all owners are required to install walking paths at the end of their yard near the water is either Illinois or Michigan, I believe. My friend took me there 35 years ago. These were for homes surrounding the Great Lakes.
I know! The guy is a maniac. The kids handled it admirably. They did the right thing by trying not to engage and waiting for the police. I know tons of nice kids who aren’t in gangs or breaking laws or causing trouble, but you’d think with all the talk about crime by kids the police would have better things to do than resolve a dispute caused by a crazy old man.

I thought that there was a possibility that the “Karen” involved here might be a “transplant”...but the accent disabused me of that notion.

“Public access list” is different. Those involve some degree of state oversight and maintenance. This is apparently just an easement onto an otherwise private lake.
How do we know the kids don’t live there?
I have a lake where I live and the public can use the shore but only HOA members can use the beach club and launch boats. There is no requirement for owners to make paths, and the HOA maintains the walkways around the lake. I have a vacation house on a private lake where only owners with lake rights that join an association can use any portion of the lake or shore. I’m sure there are many scenarios regarding lakes and usage.

I have not seen a credible news source make this claim. It was in the comments section of an article/video and, to my knowledge, not verified by property records or news reports.
Property records would show the easement. Have you seen it?
One way to tell is if the kid’s parent sues. That means they had a right of access. If they don’t, they were trespassing.

I took the time to identify the neighborhood, county, water source, access rights, and property ownership.
Unless someone refutes with actual facts, I’m not going to entertain emotional drivel.
