The kid was in much better control than the old fart. I doubt very seriously there is much more to the story and I doubt the kid slanted it or had to.

HOA President

"Karen" is a resume enhancer for that illustrious gig.

The section of the water way behind the HOA is called Stony Point. It is NOT listed on the public access list at the TN fishing and licensing website.

Further, the HOA does not appear to have any common area parcels along the shoreline in the Knox County CAD, which means that was PRIVATE property they were trespassing on.

If one of those kids had been hurt, the homeowner and/or HOA could be sued.

Thought we gave a darn about the rule of law and property rights around here.

I’d throw them off my land, too.

HOA’s develop cliques over time. Some residents get preferential treatment and others get harassed.

You can report them to Fair Housing for discrimination.

I agree with that. Those boys were just fishing. They did not look like troublemakers.

This nasty ole fart owes that kid a new fishing rod.

Stipulate the trespassing. I wonder about the legal situation with respect to breaking the rod.

You are not. There are most certainly private lakes.

If the water feeds into other bodies of water, it becomes subject to the Watters of the US law dictating what chemicals can be used to treat it.

Problem you have is the kids were not trespassing. They had the right to fish in that pond.

Not trivial.

They were trespassing. There was no public access to that section. All lots along the water were privately owned.

If the kids had gotten hurt, the homeowners could have been sued. Google trespassing HOA pool and see how much juries have awarded to law breakers.

Okay. But people were defending the boys even when it seemed they were trespassing.

The troublemaker was the nasty old fart.

All the lots around the waterway are privately owned. You don’t have the right to go on someone’s land, even for an activity as harmless as fishing.

No. The area is not listed on the TN website as open access.

I would still defend them because they looked like nice kids doing nothing wrong but a little fishing. I had 3 boys and this activity is a wholesome one. Even if they were trespassing the guy should have not assaulted the kid and broke his fishing rod. The cops were coming and could have settled it all nicely.

Guy better watch out, if they had been thugs they might of drowned his sorry ass in the pond.

In Florida it is legal to open carry a handgun while fishing.
When I go fishin’ so does my taurus judge.

Well fine, they are kids and they did not assault that nasty old man. He assaulted the kid, broke his rod, and behaved like an asshole.

The cops would have handled it just fine.

“They were trespassing.”

So where were the private property/no trespassing signs? The homeowner never mentioned that there were any.

The fact that he got right up in the kid’s face screams overreaction. That guy obviously has some serious personal issues going on.

Why should the homeowners have to put up those signs? How about the kids’ parents show their kids where they can fish, instead?

It starts in the home.
