Arizona Senate candidate Kari Lake called on the state’s GOP chair Jeff DeWit to resign after a recording emerged of him trying to bribe Lake to stay out of politics for two years.
n the recording, first reported by the Daily Mail, DeWit, 51, can be heard asking lake to name her price not to run.
“There are very powerful people who want to keep you out,” he can be heard telling her in a conversation recorded last March.
He then, after asking her not to mention the conversation to anyone, makes his first offer:
“So the ask I got today from back east was: “Is there any companies out there or something that could just put her on the payroll to keep her out?“
Lake is taken aback.
“This is about defeating Trump and I think that’s a bad, bad thing for our country,” she replied.
DeWit later framed it in a different way.
“Just say, is there a number at which –
“I can be bought?” Lake interjected. “That’s what it’s about?”
“You can take a pause for a couple of years. You can go right back to what you’re doing,” DeWit replied.
Lake repeatedly shuts him down, and says she wouldn’t pull out for a billion dollars.
“This is not about money, it’s about our country,” she says (one her own recording, we’re guessing).

There is a way to check it, but requires people with grim character, who keep their mouths shut, aren't queasy about 'messy' situations, but appreciate those of good character and leave them be to go about their lives.

In two years, Arizona would be deep deep blue and the country would be past the point of any return. We are almost at that point now. DeWit is basically letting us know that the deep state plans to have completed their take-over by 2026. It would be too late at that point for Kari to make a difference.
“This happened in April. Why did it take 10 months to reveal it?”
She actually told the story on War Room a few times after it when it happened. She told how the guy showed up at her door at home. She wouldn’t say the guy’s name, or say there was a recording back then.

McConnell has been mentioned. Probably wouldn’t be the first time (He likes putting his on ‘boys’ as Senators).

Just proves that Republican RINOs are really bad. Choose who you follow and support carefully.

I like Lake, but it is becoming obvious that she released the recording as a means to force DeWit out. That might be a good thing (he elected to carry this bribe offer forward. Someone with integrity would have refused).
Do Lake’s taped professions of purity and leaking the audio now (as opposed to when it happened) seem a bit media-manipulative and self-serving?
Or is she following the wisdom of Ross Perot who used to say “If I see a snake, I’ll kill it” — pushing out this corrupt GOP Chairman before he destroys her Senate campaign?
How do we know that there ever was a real person “Back East”, as opposed to an imaginary oligarch DeWit made up to beard his own machinations? Get out the waterboard.
Mitch comes top of mind, but I suspect an Obama backer once they saw Lake in action and worried about losing a seat in the senate.
McConnell wouldn’t object as Lake would be headaches for him, too, thinking he’d still have senate majority as has been predicted.
Kari Lake walked away from a ton of money.
She easily could have pulled down an easy 20 plus million a year at some media outlet just to go away.
If she was willing to “join the team” , they would give her a blank check - the sky would be the limit.
How do we know she recorded it?
Poor girl. This is power politics at it’s best. She was made an offer. If it had been to her liking, no one would have ever known she was then cheating on her taxes;)
At some point her opposition and reaction to situations make her seem less than desirable to carry the torch.
1) It is reported that the meeting occured at her home. The contet implied this would have been a one-on-one meeting.
2) DeWit might have recorded it, but it seems most unlikely he would have leaked material that makes himself look very bad.
It is always possible that either of them recorded and shared the audio with someone else in confidence, who then leaked it without their knowledge.
Can hardly wait for further info to emerge.
From what I understand, Kari mentioned... without dropping names, that establishment types were trying to keep her out of politics for a while.
I’d assume that someone kept pushing so she went public with this to get them back off.
At least, that is what I would have done in a similar situation.
People are war-gaming this from every angle now... Interesting to see how FEW actually want to know WHO “back East” was the river for this.
