You’ve picked a great state in South Carolina. Nice folks everywhere.
If SC had been a warmer climate, I’d live THERE instead of Florida.
So... you’re emigrating to America. Welcome.
I went to school in NJ but Southern through at least 10 generations . . . people ARE different down here.
As a free bonus, here is a quick field guide to Southern women . . . 3 insufferable debs, one older lady, and a genuine Redneck.
$#!+ Southern Women Say Note the reference to Clemson . . .
Consider the video a supplement to this extremely useful book:
I have identified all of the types in this field guide, and just about every word of it is accurate. I am a "That Child" as in "I don't know what I'm going to do with that child."
Good luck. Try not to be into much of a rush.
Super excited for you as you start your next chapter in life. Best of everything with new job, new apartment, new car, new friends. And be especially careful in the grocery stores, people maneuver their carts much more slowly and if you are operating with a northeast hurry up pace you will very annoyingly run into many rear ends and heels. Slow and steady gets the job done vs. race and rush no matter where you go.😁
A friend here in CA moved to SC last year and loves it. Congrats!
8 days is a long time to try to survive in NYC.
I keep reading that ZapTek has the highest reviews.

It’s a great place. Enjoy the Smokies
When I moved out of a city into a calm suburb I felt as if I was “on guard” all the time. I would think, “Why are they being nice to me.”
After a while, you realize that in a very large part of the world, people are really nice. Things will slow down for you. Your blood pressure will drop. And you will realize that thing on your face…is sunshine. And you will only take cabs to the airport.
Sorry SC is full. Jk. We are having so many noertherns or Cali folks moving here. Just don’t act like a Yankee and be prepared for awful driving. Be patient. Too many ppl are bringing their crappy northern attitudes.
Very good luck to you! With that car, there will be lots of great sites to see in a day-trip radius. I was horrified when my husband was sent down south to a military base, since we had both grown up in the urban north; but once I got there, I was so blown away by the sunshine, the countryside attractions and sweet tempered people. (Except if you mess with them, so don’t mess.)
Good for you! You are moving at a good time; it’s not hot down here right now, and you will miss the NYC Winter. Well played.
Enjoy your new life.
It may take a while, but give it time. After a while it becomes home.
Good Luck.
Welcome to the South, hon!
Good Luck to you! And best wishes!
I was gonna say “You’re in my prayers cuz big changes are tough to do.”
BUT YOU DON’T NEED THEM!!!!!
Big chunk of my family headed south years ago and I’ll be there when I retire.
The first time you see a Bojangles, don’t think, just go in and enjoy some southern-fried chicken, biscuits, and sweet tea.
You can thank me later.
The only way that decision could be any more right is if you made it years ago.
