The captain of the boys’ soccer team that was dramatically rescued after being trapped in a flooded Thai cave for two weeks in 2018 has died. He was 18.
Duangpetch Promthep was found unconscious in his dorm in Leicestershire, UK, on Sunday, and died at the hospital on Tuesday, the BBC reported.
The cause of death has not been confirmed but it is not being treated as suspicious.
The talented player’s passing comes just months after he arrived at Brooke House College Football Academy, where he received a scholarship last summer.
“Today my dream has come true,” he wrote on Instagram in August of the opportunity.

He did a masterful job of keeping those kids from wigging out while they waited for DAYS in TOTAL darkness for rescue.
One comment at the source says the BBC is now reporting cause of death is a head injury likely caused by a fall. Has anyone else seen anything about this cause of death?
I have seen enough posts here with people trying to make ludicrous links to the vax that I do ignore them and dismiss them out of hand. There are too many people crying wolf. There might be a real wolf out there, but they are hurting the credibility of anyone who wants to make the case.
And I have now seen in multiple sources that he suffered a head injury.
