She was particularly opposed to America’s criminal justice system which she viewed as racist.
Because of this, her friends and family claim Angel would not want her killer prosecuted in a court of law if arrested. They instead want “restorative justice” to honor Angel’s memory.
Angel would want “alternatives to traditional prosecution, such as restorative justice. Jen’s family and close friends ask that the media respect this request and carry forward the story of her life with celebration and clarity about the world she aimed to build. Do not use her legacy of care and community to further inflame narratives of fear, hatred, and vengeance, nor to advance putting public resources into policing, incarceration, or other state violence that perpetuates the cycles of violence that resulted in this tragedy.

Her family seems to be assuming your killer was a person of color. I wonder what position they will take if the driver was a white man wearing a Maga hat.
Friends and family of murder victim are encouraging more bad behavior.
Be a shame if somebody killed them all.
She worked for and supported the things that killed her.
Some people will not learn from any experience, no matter how painful. Nor will they change their behavior.
They can go their own ways. We cannot tolerate their belief systems being imposed on us.
These people are disgusting. I really want to ask them why they want another woman to suffer like their family member did.
Somebody please tell me what “ restorative justice” is. I never heard the term before. If her father feels this way then he does not deserve to be a father. They don’t want to follow the laws of man because they don’t even follow the laws of nature. Kill my daughter and its all good? That’s insane. Literally.
Leftists have been so propagandized they do not even consider their lives to be more important than the leftist ideology which is to be considered ‘uber alles’.
The bizarre attitudes and beliefs of her “friends and family” are not occurring in a social, cultural or political vacuum. They are held by a significant percentage of the American people and in some places constitute a majority opinion. It underscores the sad fact that there no longer exists a consensus of commonly held values to unite Americans. decent, rational people almost nothing in common with this lady’s “friends and family”.
Wouldn’t be (a shame) to them.
“Restorative justice” involves working with the culprit to “restore” them and integrate them into peaceful society.
How is that process even attempted without identifying the culprit? Doesn’t that require “policing”?
What if the culprit is not cooperative and prefers, even enjoys, victimizing others?
Such empty-headed bs. A person with no concern for stopping others from being harmed is no Angel.
Nikolas Cruz is the poster-child for restorative justice.
No matter to the family their virtuous virtue signaling likely will lead to further law breaking by the perpetrator(s).
Remember Nikolas Cruz? He was allowed to skate on many problem behaviors, because...”Hispanic.” Restorative justice is affirmative action for criminals, bringing the balance of punishment into equitable parameters.
The family and friends have no say in the matter or in the prosecution. While their testimony may be allowed in the sentencing portion of the trial, their views are have no place in the guilt portion of the trial.
I say A-OK as long as it’s only other idiot leftists that get killed by those criminals.
Who cares what they think? Society needs to be kept in place for the decent people of the world. Catering to the insane never turns out well.
This is monumental misunderstanding of criminal law. This was not just the taking of a person’s life. It is a capital crime against society. This is not a question of seeking personal revenge. This is about a greater need to protect society.
Society has a right to prosecute a murderer, whether or not the victim’s family and/or friends agree.
