Report: Putin and Taliban Negotiating Sale of US Arms Left Behind by Biden in Afghanistan
Red State ^ | 01/26/2023 | Brandon Morse

President Joe Biden’s failure in Afghanistan continues to haunt the United States, now by potentially assisting the army we’ve spent billions helping another army to defeat.

On Wednesday night, Rep. Jim Banks of Indiana told Newsmax of a report that indicates Russian President Vladimir Putin is in negotiations with the Taliban to purchase the weapons the U.S. left behind when Biden ordered a sudden withdrawal.

The sudden withdrawal from Afghanistan in 2021 not only left behind over $7 billion in military equipment and weapons, but American personnel as well. Russia is in need of this equipment for its own army as it continues to wage war with Ukraine.

As Newsmax reported, the deal allegedly includes recognizing the Taliban as the legitimate government of Afghanistan:

The Telegram account of General SVR, widely reported to be run by a former Russian intelligence officer, said Tuesday that Putin is negotiating with the Taliban, which Russia, like the U.S., considers a terrorist group, by offering to recognize the government in exchange for weapons badly needed by the Russian army as it struggles to gain ground in the 11-month war against Ukraine.

“The Taliban possess weapons and equipment that are scarce for the Russian army at the front, including those seized after coming to power in Afghanistan,” the post read.

Banks, who was part of the effort to hand these arms to the Afghan army so they could fight back against the Taliban, sees this as another chapter in Biden’s big betrayal:

“This hits home very personally for me,” Banks, who sits on the Armed Services Committee, told “Rob Schmitt Tonight.” “I served in Afghanistan. I was part those efforts of turning military equipment over to the Afghan army, Afghan police so they could fight back against the Taliban. To find out all of those weapons … are going to end up in the hands of one of our biggest enemies at the same time as we’re spending tens of billions of dollars to Ukraine to fight back against the same people we have given inadvertently our own weapons to, it just goes to show what a disaster Joe Biden has been as president, as commander in chief.

“The end of the Biden administration can’t come soon enough.”

We’ve given Ukraine around $100 billion to fund the war against Russia and Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky is already banging down Uncle Sam’s door to beg for more. Since only 30 percent of that money we sent them makes it to the front line, you have to wonder what’s happening with the other stacks of cash.

(READ: Ukraine Worship Isn’t Necessary for Russia’s Defeat)

But now our own weapons will be used to fight…our own weapons. The United States has effectively armed both sides of this war if the reports are true and come to fruition. This is Biden flushing billions and billions of our taxpayer dollars away with his incompetence, and it’s costing lives.

Banks is right. The end of the Biden administration can’t come soon enough. His incompetence is being utilized by our enemies in shameful ways.

The human cost of American lives in Afghanistan had subsided greatly, with most of the fighting being done by the Afghans themselves... So the main cost was financial... The financial cost of maintaining Afghanistan was nothing in comparison to the cost of leaving Afghanistan.

The Taliban now rules the roost... Just like they did before the were invaded in 2001... Women’s rights... Gone! Any chance of a free society... Gone! Leaving an enemy to America and freedom in place has consequences... Those consequences are now bearing fruit.

The last major attack on western democracy came from Afghanistan... And the next major attack will come from... You guessed it... Afghanistan!

This was a foolish policy forwarded by Trump, and then badly carried out by Biden... In the end... It was a stupid and costly foreign policy error.

It’s surprising that the DOD hasn’t been destroying the equipment left behind. Seems like a good use of drones with hellfire missiles. This will never happen with the current administration so focused on other more important matters.

Biden’s abandoned Afghan weapons=benefits Military-Industrial Complex.

Biden’s need for Ukraine weapons=benefits Military-Industrial Complex.

Win-Win!

When was the last time both sides in a war each used US weapons? I’d think it was the Futbal War in 1969. And before that the ‘48 Arab Israeli war and maybe the ‘56 Suez War.

Nice going Brandon.

Trump had a condition attached to date for leaving Afghanistan. Joe ignored the condition but said...well, I just kept to his date...so it's Trump's fault.

Not a day of service... My family history is storied... Korea, World War II, World War I and the Civil War... So I do pay attention to history.

Interesting piece of history... America still has bases in Germany, Japan, South Korea, Iraq and most of the other places that they have invaded over the past century... Why leave Afghanistan when you can stay, have a base of operations and maintain order? Pakistan and Iran are on the border of this country... Two very dangerous countries that the USA and its allies may need to invade at some point in the future.

Afghanistan is now a bloody mess. Leaving it was not a very good policy strategically, politically or economically. The cost of re-invading both in terms of money and blood will be way more than the cost of staying put.

Can’t say as I blame the Russkies....
The USA makes some top-quality weaponry, and IF they can get some excellent stuff for say...maybe 10 cents on a dollar, they’ll probably go for it.
Then, thank the pedoPIG for the great weapons deal.....

After I was released from Womack Hospital Ft. Bragg in mid 69 from two GSW’s, I was sent to the MI officer’s course. I did the area study for Pakistan, Afghanistan and Iraq for my SF company. If you recall marines were on the ground for 100 days or so and did zip. Two sf teams jumped in and took the capital in 100 days or so. You cannot fight guerilla types with conventional units. You need those trained in UW who use a 100 G’s for two SF. Riding up and down roads is US Infantry BS not SF.

“Report” means it’s likely fake, just like the “bounties” story & thousands of other stories were fake.

Maybe DOD was just waiting to see the equipment on the move. If Russia takes possession and begins moving it north, the DOD will then have to decide whether they still want to destroy it under those circumstances. Russia is probably war-gaming that scenario right now. What might be their response, I wonder.
