"Analysts estimate that close to 48% of young adults are living with their parents, similar to what was seen in the 1940s."

"The poll also found that of those currently living with their parents, 55% moved back home within the last year, as inflation sits at a four-decade high and the price to live on your own has skyrocketed."

Let's Go, Brandon!

Doubling up on housing is a big financial efficiency.

A hit to real estate and the economy to be sure, but let the ‘rat [and assist. ‘rat] overlords suffer.

Not mine—my kids are 26, 24, 20, and 17 and only the 17 year old lives with me. And she won’t once she turns 18, except during summers/college breaks.

But I do know many parents love living with their adult kids—not me! I enjoy their company, but I love their independence.

Rents are getting out of hand...AND it might just be helpful to mom and dad, too. Why do they consider living with parents as something bad??

Atomic Family is disintegratong as the industrial liberties we once enjoyed as a free people were stolen in a globalist looting of intellectual identity.

Rents are “thru the roof,” while young adults are living with their parents?

The above statement raises another question: How can landlords possibly absorb the cost of vacant rental property while eager renters are standing by?

I think we’re seeing a load of BS from a blog.

What if they had a depression, but it ‘kind of” looked different and you had a state controlled media, so no one talked about it?

It’d feel the same out there, but the politicians would like it better…

They can’t afford the car they’d need to get past the driveway so they’re stuck there.

Cash for clunkers got rid of what would’ve been old cheap cars for self starters.

Regulation makes the newer ones too expensive.

“Old Economy Steve” has to understand that housing and automobiles are not the bargain they were in his day. Only high school or college kids with cars have parents who buy them. Besides there is always Uber.

I see this.

Take a typical young adult first starting out.

Wages have been very stagnant, and housing inflation has been high.

At what wage/salary can a young person support themselves with safe housing, a means of transportation, and food?

Add in student loans (often more than housing costs), and then what?

This site is older. Most here are closer to retirement than starting out. The reason this is happening is stuff is way out of wack.

Now, the other issue is “Where is all the housing going?” Well, a lot of houses are bought up by financial institutions. Some are then provided to lower income people, some are used by family members of those institutions, some just sit there. Normally a landlord would want to rent them out, but with big institutions owning them they view it differently.

We have a lot of anger among young adults who are priced out of having a middle class life and see no way of ever being able to achieve it. We ignore it at our peril.
