If you make a spelling mistake of any kind, spell check obviously anticipates the word you meant. If there was a typo in advice, it's not far-fetched that spell check would ‘assume’ you meant advise.

I don't understand why the "grammar-check" wouldn't then immediately recognize that only the verb form would be correct in this context and make the appropriate correction.

Umm, there is "grammar-check," and everyone uses it, right?

I've never understood the FReepers who excuse themselves by remarking that they are "thumbing" their comments on a smartphone while simultaneously, e.g., bunging-jumping in Las Vegas, and are hence not responsible for faulty spelling, grammar, factuality, or logic.

WAIT UNTIL YOU GET HOME, and are comfortably seated at your desk, with your wide-screen computer in front of you and a bookcase full of leather-bound law books, dictionaries, and encyclopedias behind you!
