The first USS Halsey,CG-23, was a Leahy-class guided missile cruiser.
Those guys are probably the craziest warriors America ever produced. That was just insane on their part for a DE to attack a fleet of battleships. It was so insane the Japs were certain that they were the vanguard of something terrible and fled.
God bless them.
They went up against cruisers and battleships including the Yamato. They fought like lions until the Japanese withdrew.
