At this point all I can say is: go and see it.
Over the past two years, more than 1,360 people have died from drug overdoses in San Francisco. That is more than double the number who have died from Covid.
But you don’t need more stats. You don’t need more numbers about how the tent encampments are exploding. Or about the amount of money that the city is paying for each person doing drugs on the sidewalks. You need to see it.
I’m serious. Everyone in San Francisco should make a trip downtown. Walk around. And do not avert your eyes to the people dying slowly on the streets.
The politicians that run my hometown are relying on you not noticing what’s going on because it’s been bad for so long and who cares if it gets a little worse. Don’t let them. Go see it.
The city is using intimidation. They used it on me when I went to see what was going on at a new addict-services facility, which they’d set up in a public plaza. And they tried to intimidate my friend Michael Shellenberger, as you’ll read below.
The people in charge of homelessness and addiction want to bully people into giving up public streets and parks. They want to take your tax money and let your suffering neighbors die gentle, stoned deaths while they watch and call it justice. They think the mothers who want to get their sons out of the jaws of death are suspect. (It’s conservative to want your kid to live, don’t you know?) The city would like a little privacy please. Fentanyl use is an intimate moment between our officials and our addicts.
Do not listen to the propaganda. Skip Golden Gate Park. Bring your friends downtown instead.

Last time I was downtown San Fran it was almost like zombie world...they’re everywhere.
They’re not being helped - they’re being trapped in a death spiral.
It’s a sad situation in that city.
I read an article a while back, about someone visiting, who spoke of seeing people lying all over the sidewalks, and the wafting smell of urine in the air. The article also mentioned that some areas have fecal piles and you need to watch where you step.
San Francisco is one of America’s most liberal cities. As such, it should be a glittering jewel of what America could be like, if only liberals held all the power everywhere, as they hold all the power in San Francisco.
It’s hard to believe, but when Gavin Newsom ran for mayor of San Francisco, he was actually the more “conservative” business oriented candidate in that election.
“Walk around. And do not avert your eyes to the people dying slowly on the streets.”
The drugs in the country are a travesty of human life. San Francisco is only one of many places wherein politicians in maximizing the pandering to dealers, the border, the sex trade, have left their own citizens in the street. This is a failure of leadership on all levels. No, once they are addicts it’s almost impossible to bring them back to functional in society, and everyone knows that. We need a different plan, other than genocide, to address this issue.
And to think that the idiot Speaker of the House represents San Francisco. And that the idiot voters will re-elect her in November and she doesn’t need to lift a finger.
Communism needs its entire population to be “high” all the time in order for it to work. A sober man wants nothing to do with communism or even its little brother, socialism.
If you’re going to San Francisco
Be sure to wear some Narcan® in your hair
If you’re going to San Francisco
You’re gonna meet some dead junkies there
It’s not failure. This is deliberate.

It worked in 19th century China...
Last time I was there was on business, in the late 70s, and it was still a nice place.
Last time I was there was in 69. Downtown while waiting on a contract flight for overseas. Went to Haight-Ashbury streets and saw the future leaders of our country now. Never went back. I saw it all coming.
Coming soon to an Obamanation near you.
I moved from SoCal to the SF Bay area in ‘92. SF was still pretty nice then as well, though with the usual bad areas that plague every major city. My wife and I often went into The City (That is what they like to call it), dinner, a concert or a show. By the late ‘90’s the city was sliding down hill at an increasing speed. We stopped going into the city in the early 2000’s
I suppose it doesn’t carry the social stigma of poison gas and crematoriums.
Not just SF, its NY City also.
Its the next logical step of insane progressive ideology.
And why not - they control government, they can print and borrow all the US dollars they need to keep going.
I won’t ever go back.
I convinced my younger Sister, who’s a retired RN-NP, and ran 3 Kaiser-Permanente Clinics at UCSF, to move back here to PA. She sold her beautiful home in Mill Valley, on Mt Tamalpais (sp?) that she and her late husband had bought in 1973 for $74k, for $1.3 million. Wowzer.
