I’m still going to get my permit renewed. Just because Alabama is a CC State, doesn’t mean a citizen of Alabama can carry without a permit in other states. No reciprocity without the card and one has to pay for that, well, most folks do. Vets get ours gratis.
Standard lawfare here in NC. The sherrif deputy who gave me my concealed carry class stated that concealed carry permit holders are viewed as partners with Law Enforcement to the extend that once you are made aware of laws, you have obligations under those laws, and held to a higher standard than the great unwashed masses.
When LE pulls your vehicle over, usually the database gives a profile of the owner, and LE will know you have taken a CCC or are a permit holder.
When LE pulls you over, have your passengers and yourself the driver hold your hands outside the window in plain view of the officer approaching the vehicle.
LE will generally ask why your hands are out and if it is because you have a weapon... is it loaded/accessible, etc.
If you have a weapon in arms reach, empty the mag, bolt open to see clear chamber, and your Wallet, Weapon and Drivers on the dash.
Congratulations. You are now a partner with LE. You have takenj 90 percent of the stress out of the officers job by doing these things. LE will probably not you a ticket as has been my good experience twice in the past 8 years.
