Leaving California

I ran into an old California buddy online Sunday. He asked me why I moved to Texas.

We didn’t have a lot of time, so I gave him the shortest explanation I could: “It’s not California.”

For the 10 or so friends, all former Californians, who have moved near us in Texas in the last year or so, no further explanation is needed. In Texas 80 looters don’t pull their cars up to swankiest department stores and loot the place in broad daylight with impunity.

San Francisco is different, and has been for a long time, nearly as long as it has allowed urinating and defecating and sleeping and shooting up heroin on public sidewalks.

That town’s mayor said this week they are finally going to “crack down.” Will police arrest the thieves? Well, we will have to see about that. It’s still a misdemeanor in California to steal anything under $950 in value.

But they are not going to allow people to park cars near the stores. That should work -- as well as anything else in California works. It also should discourage paying customers and maybe clear the aisles for the looters.

We’ve been in Texas nearly nine years. We’ve yet to see a human turd on a public sidewalk, let alone a human depositing one. We’ve yet to see a mob of thieves swarm a store to take away as much as they can carry while police look the other way.

San Francisco Police Chief William Scott told NBC Nightly News stores must be willing to hire security guards to make a private persons arrest. How’s that working out?

Consequently, criminals, some wielding weapons and crowbars, load up, leave, then return for more.

If you happen to die while you’re stealing stuff, I think society should shrug it off as no big deal.

Commies always think that those past failures were because people didn’t do communism the right way but THEY know how it should be done and will keep being stuck on stupid.

I really would like government to have a bounty of some kind (even small) as way for the government to recognize a particular action as lawful and just. Just a way to signal “Don’t try to take this guy to court: the government officially approves his action.”

If this Californian and his 10 buddies vote democrat in Texas like Californians do in California then Texas will be the place run down by democrats - run down and dangerous as he describes California.

Keep in mind that a big reason you don’t see all that bad stuff is because Texans value their guns. Don’t come here and try to do away with them.

I left Los Angeles 9 months ago after a lifetime - grew up in Newport Beach (Corona del Mar) - Lived in Echo Park and Hollywood Hills for 30 years. My company wanted me to move to Oklahoma City and supervise oil pipeline work. I miss the weather and the sea but otherwise, am quite satisfied here. I may even buy a home here.

My Aunt J. has lived in Cali since …1980? She is the biggest leftist in the family and is a total Sanders supporter.

Anyway she says she is the expert on the state and tells me the only reason people are leaving the state is the high prices.

I think she’s full of “short” but as I only go there to visit every other year or so I’m not sure…

Anyone here from Cali care to comment on that?

Did you ever ask her why CA prices are high? [Then ask about CA’s “greedy, self-centered materialistic culture that wants to use illegal immigrants to help keep certain prices low ...oh, high state high taxes ...”]

I’m not from Cali, I grew up and live in North Louisiana. I’ve visited California 3 times in the past two years, and will go back again in a couple of years.

Without question, it is the most scenic state I’ve ever been in. And natural resources and a wonderful climate to boot.

I think “we” are looking at this the wrong way. Why should “we” let “them” run us out of California.

Maybe “we” all should move there and run “them” off.

Or, they destroy their financial future, destroy their society’s freedom and safety and obligate largess to the extent that they feel the rest of this country HAS to bail them out to make them whole again so they can keep up the lunacy.
