AOC: I stand with the Cuban people -- but don't forget the U.S. embargo

It makes me laugh to think of establishment Dems reading her tweet last night and groaning, knowing how it’ll be used against them in Florida. That was the site of their biggest disappointment last November with Biden losing decisively in a state that was supposed to be a toss-up and two House seats flipping from blue to red. Party centrists had a ready explanation for that in the aftermath: The Bernie wing of the party was seen as too soft on socialism, which alienated Cuban-Americans in Miami-Dade.

So here comes the most famous young member of the Bernie wing in America, four days after protests erupted, with a statement that denounces the U.S. embargo on Cuba more forcefully than the Castro regime. Remind me, is that what Cubans in the streets are chanting about — the embargo?

Or is it an end to the dictatorship?

At least she finally deigned to say something. Ilhan Omar has yet to comment about Cuba.

So she’s now denouncing every Dem President from JFK until now. Not a one of them took a hard line on the Cuba embargo. I believe she is dumb enough to realize that her statement does just that. New Yorkers please send us a fair Representative, as fair as a NY Dem can be and send her packing to low rated reality shows where she now belongs.

I am perplexed that AOC should state that she is "with" the Cuban people. Words are cheap, and serve to hide real motivations. Any intervention that the Joe Stolen/ "Que mala" Harris regime will engage in will only dismiss the internal dissatisfactions of the Cuban peasants and laborers, while maintaining the strong grip the Communist oligarchy in that distressed land continues to hold.

There is this continued belief that somehow, Communism will one day relax its jackbooted stranglehold on its subjects, and transform into a more "democratic" sort of equality and harmony. First of all, Communists, or any kind of command-and-control regime, cannot relax its grip without taking a chance on a runaway rebellion and chaos. Therefore transformation in any peaceable manner is somewhere between highly impractical, and absolutely impossible.

There was once this naïve notion that with the passing of Fidel Castro, that the structure of Communism in Cuba would somehow disappear, but that has not happened, even though we have it on good authority that Fidel is indeed still dead.
