On Monday, U.S. Air Force Lt. Gen. Brian T. Kelly, the deputy chief of staff for manpower, personnel, and services, previewed some of the changes to the service’s official physical fitness test, including allowing for service members to choose from a “menu” of different test items, with options walking instead of running and letting service members do a form of modified push-ups instead of traditional ones.
While Air Force Chief MSgt. of the Air Force JoAnne Bass said the service will officially announce the changes to the fitness test “soon,” Kelly did provide some previews of the new test features during a Facebook virtual “Coffee Chat” event.
“We all know fitness is important and it’s going to be hear to stay,” Kelly said. “Some people asked, ‘is it going away? the answer is ‘no it is not’ . . . but we think there is an opportunity to give more options.”

The AF PT has always been a joke. While Soldiers, Sailors and Marines were running outdoors in whatever environment they were stationed in the AF was running on treadmills indoors. Now, the AF gets to “choose” what PT “tests” they will agree to participate in. The problem here is, this Pussified Crap rolls downhill. The Left is Bound and Determined to decimate the US Military. They want to turn it into a pale and pathetic Shadow of what it once was. The Left have polluted every single institution of all that made the USA the greatest country on earth. They long ago infiltrated every institution in this country. Their last target of conquest is the US Military. And, they have finally, after many many decades are succeeding.

I hate to say this, but when I was in the Air Force from 1977-81, we had the option each year to either run a measured mile or walk a measured 1 1/2 miles within a time prescribed by age.
So apparently at some point after I separated, presumably during the WOT, the Air Force dropped the walking option of the yearly Physical Fitness test, and are now reinstating it.
If they don’t like to fly they can ride a bicycle.
In the late 90’s. In fact, the Military Times reported on this quite extensively. They reported on this as though this was the Wave of the Future.
The AF has been on the Bleeding Edge of the Pussification of the US Military for quite some time now.
This latest report of “choose what you want” is but the latest example of this fact. The next step will be to “choose” not to partake in any PT testing at all.
81-85, there was no annual physical fitness test thst I was aware of. So long as you were in compliance with AFR 35-11, they left you alone.
