Joe Biden and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi have described themselves as devout Catholics, a description enthusiastically repeated by his press secretary and the media.
But now Pelosi's hometown bishop is taking a not-so-subtle jab at her and Biden's abortion advocacy, arguing that self-identified Catholics should refrain from publicly promoting the practice or face potential exclusion from Holy Communion.
"If you find that you are unwilling or unable to abandon your advocacy for abortion, you should not come forward to receive Holy Communion," said Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone in a pastoral letter.

My understanding is that it is not that they should not come forward as much as those who administer communion actively participate in the mortal sin committed when giving the Body of Christ to people publicly denouncing Jesus’ teachings.

Allegedly, some Congressional critters (past and present)stopped queuing up to receive Communion. Former US Senator Dodd (D-CT) was noted for attending Mass but staying behind in a pew during the distribution of the Eucharist.

As for Biden and Pelosi, the bans should have been pronounced decades ago.

Eh. Most Churches end up bowing down to Govt. Pelosi and Biden will never face the church discipline that Joe the barber would. Mormons too. Why wasn’t Harry Reid (or Romney) excommunicated? All are baby-killers. An average Joe who came out publicly like Reid or any of them have would be kicked out. In this the Catholics might as well be United Methodists. If you don’t apply your tenets to the rich and powerful you are just a hypocrite.
