They probably did it because they were ordered to watch the non-existent crowds for non-existent white supremacists engaging in non-existent violence.
One short motorcade video showed some NG troops standing at attention facing the motorcade, while others were casually standing facing away from the motorcade. I didn't see any NG troops standing at attention while facing away from the motorcade - the traditional military snub.

While I would applaud the NG for such an act, this does not appear to be a “snub” action. IMHO, an obvious snub would be ALL NG facing away from the Pestilent-in-Chief. However, facing to, and facing away, were performed in a somewhat staggered arrangement. Which makes sense, since if the motorcade came under attack, of what benefit is the NG ALL facing to or ALL away.
This being said, the video only shows one side of the street. It would’ve been interesting to see what the NG on the opposite side of the street were doing, if there were NG on the other side of the street.
I have looked and looked but after months of campaigning I have yet to see a single Biden supporter. Someone who voted for and is crazy about Traitor Joe. Are they rare avis nearly extinct critters? Could that be why President Trump said he won the election?
Maybe.
I hope so.
But if the threat is from the outside, they need to be facing that way. Gotta watch in both directions.

When I looked at the picture, it appeared to be a “gather round” thing, not a snub.
I admit, if I were in charge of that group, and I knew the motorcade was coming, I would choose that time to have a talk with my troops.
Or driving alone in their own car.

I feel your pain, I live in the northeast and have just completed 30 years of work for my company, retiring to a red state. Had enough of snow, cold and bluestate attitude.
I admit, I love everything here except the liberals and the politics. I don’t even mind the snow that much, but as I get older losing muscle mass, I feel the cold more acutely now.
Well, I do envy ou in your red state!
