Interesting...
This is the key statistic in my mind for the US. Death counts can’t me manipulated by changing classification. If the number of deaths isn’t materially different, the political class and MSM have been lying.
Didn’t Angela Merkel hysterically screech that up to 70% of Germans would be infected by covid with millions dying from it? Back in April I think. I am going to need to find the tie to go through the utter garbage predictions and sheer fear porn on coronavirus that was posted here on FR starting somewhere around February. What am I even saying? It would take me a lifetime to go through the sheer hysterical nonsense posted here on FR for the sole purpose of creating as much panic and hysteria as possible.
COVID-19 CURES DEATH — at least for some. Who knew?
Emmy Award Winner Cuomo held New York hostage until the Democrats took over the government. Best performance by a person portraying a governor since Huey Long.
Holy Moses, they never open the schools or restaurants again. Especially considering that Sweden, that didn’t panic, had the smallest improvement.
Just a sprinkle of cold water on this is its hard to get killed when locked down in your basement, rather than out dating serials killers, getting hit by busses, crashing fast cars, skiing quadruple diamond runs, diving in shark infested waters and all the other normal and customary ways people die when out and about.

Comparing different sources. Never a good sign. Surely the pink source had estimates in prior years, so why compare apples to oranges?
Anyone checked the USA CDC deaths annually numbers...or their states numbers?
For me total deaths for 2020 versus prior five years is the best indicator. I think it is just classification noise.
Huh?
Mixing two different data sources, for one thing, but the bulk of the problem -
The numbers for 2020 seem to have been incomplete when this was compiled, probably because the data is from before the end of the year. This is not mentioned in the table, though it might have been in the original article or the notes were left out.
Checking the countrymeters.info entry for Sweden - https://countrymeters.info/en/Sweden - as it stands now, it shows 2020 deaths as 94,941, vs 91,963 on the table, which is exactly as one would expect as I note above. At some point these countries will have full demographic data for 2020, which is taken from civil records. This is lagged differently for different countries. The US is lagged by almost two months for instance, for reasonably complete data.
You have to be very careful about data. This table is extremely misleading as it stands, and should not have been posted.
Spain does an extremely good job at this as their civil records system (Registro Civil) is extremely efficient. They also put out excellent reporting. Their basis for comparison vs “normal” is ten years.
Blue band is the ten-year range.
A table of total deaths by year for the last six calendar years at the same evaluation date after the end of the year is the clearest. Six little numbers will tell a lot.
And these are just "CASES" not deaths.
Somebody has a hold of our balls and won't let go.
Interesting paper, but it’s racis’ ‘cause it says “negro” in multiple charts....
You make an excellent point...
