Terrifying back then. My daughter saw it later in the late 90s and just shook her head. She thought it was fake. I explained to her that it scared a generation out of the water.
I’m still ruined.
I saw it at 6y/o.
I did manage open ocean swimming in HI with Spinner dolphins.
Some snorkeling pretty far off shore in Kona.
I was part of the generation that it should have scared, but I had already had enough other water incidents that I stopped venturing out in boats that were well off shore. I like to to be able to see land when I’m in on a boat. So no cruises for me, even before CoVid.
As I said, Jaws should’ve scared me from swimming in the ocean. It didn’t, I still do. However, if you want to take me deep sea fishing, you better find someone else to go with you. It won’t be me.
